Welcome. In front of me is a Samsung
0:04
Galaxy S27
0:06
and today I will show you how you can
0:08
enable and set up your portable hotspot.
0:19
So to get started, you'll want to swipe
0:22
down from the top right side of your
0:25
screen. This will bring down your
0:26
toggles. And in this section right here,
0:28
swipe down again to extend the list of
0:30
visible toggles, which will also add
0:32
labels to the toggles. And we're looking
0:35
for the hotspot one, which I hope it's
0:38
added. Looks like it is. So, should be
0:41
added by default. Looks like this. If
0:43
you can't find it, you can click right
0:45
here on this pencil. And then from the
0:49
bottom, you'll see right here plus
0:50
button without add a control. Click on
0:52
this. Find hotspot somewhere from the
0:55
list right here. Once you do, you just
0:57
simply tap on it. Unfortunately, it gets
0:59
added to the bottom of that entire list.
1:01
Not the not this list that we've seen
1:03
right here, but the actual entire
1:05
toggles and everything else. So, if you
1:08
want to have it organized, you just hold
1:10
it, drag it up, and drop it in this
1:13
section right here. Click on done. And
1:16
you can see this toggle would get added
1:18
into this specific list.
1:21
Anyway, once you have it in here, press
1:22
time, hold it. This will take you
1:25
quickly to the settings. Now, you do
1:28
want to navigate in here as your hotspot
1:30
will have a randomly generated password.
1:32
And without navigating here, you have no
1:33
way of knowing what it is actually set
1:35
to. And instead of trying to check out
1:38
what it is set to and then trying to
1:40
type it in, what I recommend doing is
1:42
just getting rid of it and then setting
1:44
up your own new password, which like the
1:46
message states, will need to have at
1:48
least eight characters in length. Now,
1:50
you can use letters or numbers or or
1:52
both. It really doesn't matter. I'm
1:55
using for simplicity just numbers.
1:59
Uh now once you change anything right
2:01
here, you can click on save. I do want
2:03
to kind of go back in there again. Uh
2:05
you do have in here as well things like
2:07
the name of the device. So Galaxy A27
2:11
5G uh with some like model number. Uh
2:14
this is what you're going to be looking
2:15
in the Wi-Fi list for. Uh hotspots
2:18
usually have the name of the device, but
2:20
you can change this if you want to.
2:22
Now below that we have the band. We have
2:25
two options 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz. And
2:28
for people that don't know what this is,
2:30
uh I'm going to try to explain this in a
2:32
way simpler simplest way but one that
2:36
will still give you full understanding
2:37
on when would be the best time to use
2:41
one of those.
2:43
And you can only use one at a time on
2:45
this device. So, it's going to be kind
2:50
of, you know, important to you at some
2:52
point potentially. So, uh 2.4 GHz is one
2:56
that I personally use uh on my device
2:58
and it's not the best, truth be told.
3:00
It's not the fastest, uh but it's the
3:03
most versatile. Uh reason for that is
3:05
2.4 is basically the original Wi-Fi. So,
3:08
if you had any kind of device uh at any
3:11
point in time that uh that could connect
3:13
to Wi-Fi network, it definitely used
3:18
2.4. That could be a two decade old
3:21
laptop for all you care. It's going to
3:23
be using that.
3:26
Now, 5 GHz are devices that were labeled
3:28
on a box usually with Wi-Fi 6. uh they
3:32
used uh moronically five gigahertz
3:34
connectivity instead of six like the
3:37
name would imply. Um so
3:41
uh that's that. Now devices that were
3:44
labeled with that Wi-Fi 6 and can
3:46
utilize the 5 GHz connection can also
3:50
connect to 2.4.
3:52
But if you have that two decade old
3:54
laptop that was just Wi-Fi only, it can
3:57
connect to wireless network, right?
4:00
Well, that laptop most certainly will
4:03
not be able to connect to the 5 GHz. It
4:05
supported the old one but not the new
4:07
one. Uh, newer devices are backwards
4:09
compatible, but old devices are not
4:11
forwards compatible. So, the reason why
4:15
I picked 2.4 is because of that ease of
4:18
use. No matter what I will want to
4:21
connect with to this hotspot with, I can
4:24
be sure that I will always be able to
4:27
connect to the 2.4 network. So, I don't
4:30
need to worry about who does that device
4:31
supports it or not. Unlike with the 5
4:34
GHz, if I choose that, grab that two
4:36
decade old laptop and now I'm just not
4:39
seeing the hotspot in there or the Wii
4:40
in the Wi-Fi list, I'm not seeing
4:42
whatever we have labeled right here
4:44
because that device just doesn't even
4:45
see this frequency at all. So, I cannot
4:48
connect to it. Um, so this just kind of
4:51
makes it easier. Now for uh explanation
4:54
of the benefits of the 5 GHz. Uh the
4:58
newer technology which is the 5 GHz will
5:00
be faster. Uh the connection will have a
5:03
higher bandwidth obviously and you will
5:06
have lower latencies which is pretty
5:07
good for gaming purposes. Additionally
5:11
more devices can be connected to such a
5:13
network.
5:15
And one of the most important things
5:17
will be that 5 GHz frequency
5:21
is less susceptible to overcrowded uh
5:26
frequency. And let me explain what this
5:28
means because this one will be the most
5:29
important to some people. So 2.4 is
5:33
prone to having interference from other
5:35
2.4 signals. If there is enough of them,
5:37
they will start to uh clash with one
5:39
another and cause you problems where you
5:41
will be disconnecting from your hotspot
5:43
and all that stuff. And obviously this
5:44
won't be a good experience for you. Uh
5:48
it's just a downside. Uh back when this
5:51
kind of frequency was made, uh people
5:54
never conceived the idea that someone
5:56
might have 20 different 2.4 GHz
5:59
frequencies uh in his single household
6:01
because he decided to have 20 different
6:04
light bulbs that all use 2.4 GHz
6:06
frequency. And now they're basically all
6:08
clashing with the uh with other devices
6:11
uh in in that vicinity. 5 GHz is not as
6:15
prone to this problem. Uh it's way more
6:18
accommodating much much higher
6:19
frequencies or wider frequency. So it
6:22
doesn't have as much of a problem with
6:24
this. So uh if you're having problem
6:26
with keeping connection even though like
6:28
you're literally oh this far away from
6:30
from one another like the devices uh try
6:34
5 GHz assuming the other device supports
6:36
it and this could hopefully solve your
6:39
problem. Uh but I have never encountered
6:42
this myself. So that's why I use the
6:44
2.4.
6:46
And lastly in here we have the security.
6:48
I would recommend keeping that as it is.
6:49
This ensures that you actually have a
6:51
password and uh that ensures that only
6:54
people that know the password will be
6:56
able to connect to it. Otherwise, anyone
6:58
could connect to it if you turn it off.
7:01
So, uh that's the settings right here.
7:05
Um
7:07
I do also want to quickly mention one
7:08
more important thing. So, right here,
7:10
neatly enough, it shows us the amount of
7:13
data that the hotspot has used, which is
7:15
pretty nice, but it's just an
7:17
information. like it doesn't really give
7:19
us much in terms of uh options. So if
7:24
you have some kind of cap on how much
7:26
data you can use per month and primarily
7:28
when you're running hotspot you will be
7:30
using your mobile network. So if you
7:33
have limited amount I would recommend
7:35
going into the settings
7:39
and in settings let me just back out.
7:41
Uh, so in settings, normally when you're
7:43
like right here in the main settings
7:44
page, you will want to navigate to I
7:48
think it's going to be
7:50
connections or no, not connected device.
7:53
What am I saying? Connections. There we
7:54
go. And uh data usage. There we go. And
7:59
here
8:02
we have this mobile. So mobile data
8:05
billing cycle and data warnings. That's
8:07
what we're looking for. And this not
8:10
only will impact your hotspot but also
8:13
your general mobile data for any kind of
8:16
usage of you know browsing the web,
8:18
watching YouTube on your phone and so
8:19
on. Uh but it will only impact the
8:22
mobile data, not the Wi-Fi connection
8:24
when you're at home for instance to your
8:26
router. And uh if you have something
8:28
like 5 GB of data per month, you would
8:31
probably want to select a data warning.
8:33
I don't know, set it to maybe 4 GB.
8:35
There we go. And once
8:38
every month you surpass the four four
8:40
gigabytes in data used, you will get a
8:43
notification about it. But that's not
8:45
the only thing that you can do. You can
8:46
actually select a limit. So in here I
8:49
can select that if I have per month only
8:51
5 GB in total, I can maybe set something
8:54
like 4.5
8:56
gigs. So 4 and 1/2. And now anytime I
8:59
get to that four and a half, the phone
9:01
will automatically disable uh mobile
9:04
data all together. And for last thing,
9:08
you want to select right here under the
9:10
start billing cycle on you want to
9:12
select what day of the month you get
9:13
rebuild, which subsequently also means
9:15
what day of the month your provider
9:18
refreshes your data uh data. So, I don't
9:22
know, maybe on the 21st,
9:25
uh, you you used all of your network and
9:28
21st comes around, get your bill, and
9:30
you start again freshly, 5 GB of full
9:33
bandwidth, then se select the 21st right
9:36
here. And every uh, every month on the
9:39
21st, this phone will reset the data
9:41
usage back to zero. So, you're not
9:44
getting locked out, unless you obviously
9:46
surpass that four and a half
9:49
the entire month.
9:51
So, uh it's a great option in case of uh
9:54
having like low data limits. Now, once
9:58
you're all set up, you can find the
9:59
toggle right here. Click on it. Gives
10:02
you quick message, turn off Wi-Fi.
10:04
Unfortunately, this is on a lower end of
10:06
devices. So, Samsung decided to skimp
10:08
out on antennas and therefore you will
10:12
need to disable your Wi-Fi to enable
10:14
hotspot as it's using the same antennas
10:16
to do uh one of those jobs and it can
10:19
only do one. So, needs to turn it off to
10:22
then start broadcasting the hotspot. So,
10:24
everything now is going strictly through
10:26
your mobile network.
10:28
And luckily, when you're done using it,
10:30
you can turn it off. So, just to
10:31
demonstrate, if I turn it off, Wi-Fi, as
10:34
you can see, gets automatically
10:35
reenabled. And I think this pop-up only
10:37
shows up once. Oh, no, never mind. It
10:39
does show up every time. So, yeah.
10:44
So, there we go. Uh, one last thing to
10:45
mention is I would recommend trying to
10:47
remember to turn off your hotspot as it
10:49
does consume more of your phone's
10:51
battery. That's number one. And number
10:52
two, uh, obviously disables your Wi-Fi.
10:56
So, as you see, I'm just turning it off.
10:58
All you need to do is find the toggle,
10:59
tap on it, and it becomes disabled, and
11:02
you're good to go.
11:04
So, with that being said, I hope you
11:07
found this video helpful. And if you
11:08
did, don't forget to hit like,
11:09
subscribe, and thanks for watching.
