In front of me is a Lenovo Tab A7 and today I'll show you how to go through the setup
0:13
process of the tablet. So once you boot it up for the first time, you'll be presented with the welcome screen
0:19
that you can see right over here, although in a different language
0:24
And all you need to do is start off by changing the language, which I'm going to select English
0:29
for obvious reasons. And let's press on Start to get to the second page
0:37
Now it looks like this tablet right here is an LTE version so I could insert a SIM card
0:44
but honestly I'm just not going to bother. The moment you insert a SIM card it will work as it should, so that step is basically useless
0:52
But on the next page we do have a more useful step, which is the WiFi connection
0:57
So here you can connect to your WiFi assuming you have one. If you don't, don't worry, you can skip it
1:02
By skipping it you will lose the option to log into your Google account and date and
1:08
time will need to be set manually instead of being set automatically
1:13
But other than that you can still later on log into your Google account and connect to
1:18
WiFi after the setup is complete, but instead of it being provided neatly in a sequence
1:23
as it is right here, you will have to find it in the settings
1:33
And like I said, there are the date and time which you would normally have to, or in this
1:37
case we have to set it manually, but if you connect to WiFi I believe it just skips the
1:43
step altogether. Now next page is the name page. So here you can basically name your device and honestly it doesn't really have much impact
1:57
If you choose to leave it empty it will be named by the actual model of the device, so
2:02
the name will be something like a Lenovo Tab E7 or something along those lines
2:08
But if you choose to name it yourself then things like Bluetooth devices and what else
2:14
is there? I'll just stick with just Bluetooth devices for now. Or I think also a mobile network hotspot will have the name that you provide right here
2:24
in terms of visibility. So if you create a hotspot you will be looking for a WiFi name that you have provided right here
2:31
So I'm going to leave it empty. Then we have Protect Your Tablet, so here you can set up a protection obviously
2:38
That would be PIN, Pattern, Password or Not Now which will just allow us to skip this
2:43
step altogether which that's what I'm going to go for. And here we have Google Services
2:49
So we can tap on the tiny little arrow right here to read exactly what you're agreeing to
2:54
We have things like Location, Scanning and Send User and Diagnostic Data
3:00
Now basically all of them are data gathering options plus some beneficial for you
3:08
But let's be honest, I'm pretty sure primary function is data gathering, especially the
3:13
Send User and Diagnostic Data. But if you don't want them you can disable them
3:21
How disabled they stay, that is something that I have no idea
3:25
But yeah, once you disable them, you can tap on Accept and this will take you to the Lenovo ID
3:31
Why is this here and what's the reason for it? I have no clue. It just seems like some kind of trash on here
3:37
I don't have a ID to receive personalized experience. Personalized experience seems a lot like personalized ads which, you know, I think I'll just skip
3:49
this one. Again License and Agreement from Lenovo. So you can read it if you are interested
3:56
Obviously you do have to accept it at the end of the day. I don't have Lenovo User Experience Program so you can sign up to it or not
4:06
You can read what it exactly offers by tapping on the blue text right here
4:10
But I'm not really interested. And we should be right about done with the setup
4:15
Oh, there we go. So that is how you could go through the setup of this tablet
4:21
