In front of me is a Microsoft Surface Duo and today I will show you how to enable and

set up the portable hotspot. Now to get started you will want to open up your notification panel, drag it down and

find the hotspot toggle. I'm not sure why it's closing

Now anyway, it looks like it stayed open but like you can see there is no hotspot toggle

so you will need to tap on this pencil right here and most likely add it from the toggles

that are turned off. And yep, there it is. So I'm going to grab it, drag it over, drop it and now when you back out it will be in

your toggles. So from here we can hold the toggle, this will quickly take us to the settings

So in here you want to select WiFi hotspot and then I would advise you to start with

WiFi or hotspot password which will display the password that is set by default and it

is some randomly generated one. So let's remove this one, it's not the easiest thing to remember so I'm going to set my own

Now it does need to have 8 characters and a length at which point you will be able to

confirm it. So I did set something really simple right here but you can use letters, numbers or both

From there we have AP band so we have a choice between 2.4 and 5 GHz

I'll go with the 5 GHz just because it's going to be a faster and more stable of a connection

though not every device will support it, some older devices will not

If you're not sure about your phone or your device that you're trying to use this hotspot

with you can toggle the 5 GHz on and if the device that you're trying to connect to it

doesn't see your hotspot at all, like just doesn't see anything by this name right here

that means that it just doesn't support it and all you need to do is go back to the settings

change that back to 2.4 and it should work just fine. Now additionally you can also change the hotspot right here, the hotspot name

By default it is the name of the device, so Surface Duo and some kind of like model number

or whatever the numbers are. So like I said you can change it, you can shorten it, you can set something completely

entirely different but I'm just going to keep it as it is

And last option right here we have the turn off hotspot automatically, this is when the

device or not the device but the hotspot itself isn't being used for like 5 or 10 minutes

it will turn off automatically. I do recommend you to keep this on, it is a real nice thing to have on because personally

I do forget to turn off the hotspot when I'm using it and the hotspot does consume more

of your battery so having this on will basically prevent you from wasting your battery for

no reason when you're not using the hotspot. So like I said, highly recommend to keep this on

And once you went through all the settings right here you can either toggle it on from here or by tapping on the toggle right here
