Welcome. In front of me is a Honor 9D Lite and today I will show you a couple tweaks and tricks you can do on this device
0:08
Now to get started we're going to open up our settings. And I'm going to begin by navigating into the home screen and wallpaper where we'll find a couple different things
0:23
So this will be for customization purposes, obviously. Almost all the settings here. So we have wallpaper which no one really cares
0:31
Everybody knows how to change wallpaper. But then we have other things like themes
0:35
So we can change from a couple themes that come preinstalled with this device
0:40
You can, I believe, download more if you're logged in from their store
0:45
We have magazine unlock. That's completely up to you if you want to use this or not
0:49
I personally don't like magazine unlock just because it's just kind of all over the place
0:54
You can see the examples of different wallpapers that we'll have here. So you have traveling, which is kind of a wallpaper that you might see
1:01
Transportation, aka cars. Celebrities, again, why would you care to see this as a wallpaper
1:09
Sports, life, again architecture and stuff like that. It just seems like kind of an odd wallpaper
1:15
Along with the style being also just kind of wonky. So obviously, I personally am not a fan of this
1:22
But if you like them, you can keep it. You can also remove some of them by unchecking them
1:28
So if some of these categories don't really fit with your vibes at all, you can turn them off
1:33
For me, that's basically all of them. So I just like to turn that off altogether
1:39
Now below that we have a home screen style. Now Honor is one of those devices that comes pre-enabled
1:45
with the crappy little Apple-esque home screen. Meaning all your apps are smack in the middle on your home screen
1:53
And you don't have an app drawer. Which just makes a complete cluster of a mess on your home screen
2:00
It's hard to orientate yourself, find apps. So I personally like the drawer mode, which is technically the default or standard for Android
2:08
So it always tilts the living hell out of me when I see phones saying like standard or default
2:14
Yeah, default for whatever the hell you're trying to plagiarize, which is Apple
2:19
This is not default for Android. This is default for Android. So that's what I personally prefer
2:26
And I believe a lot of people will find this more useful. Just because it's way more organized
2:32
And also allows you to search for applications. Something that you might struggle with doing normally
2:38
And obviously it's just much cleaner on your home screen. So you can actually put on your home screen important apps
2:45
Not all of them. And have quick access to those applications. And whenever you want to find some applications that you don't really care for
2:53
Because let's be honest. For instance, icon packs have their own application
2:59
Why would I bother having that on my home screen when I can just have it tucked away somewhere here
3:03
Where I don't actually need to see it every single time I'm scrolling through
3:08
So yeah. Now let's continue on. To the display and brightness. And here we have our dark mode and light mode
3:19
So we can switch between those two. Obviously permanently. But below that we have an auto switch
3:24
Which will allow you to have it set either on schedule. So sunset to sunrise
3:31
Which is default one. Or on a custom timer of your choice
3:35
And this will allow the device to swap between these two modes
3:39
Based on whichever option you selected. Giving you either light mode during the daytime
3:44
And dark mode during the night time. Which arguably would be the best kind of solution I would say
3:52
Now moving on to the next option. It's going to be the refresh rate
3:56
By default this device comes with a dynamic option. Which is actually pretty nice
4:00
This will allow the device to run at 90 Hz. When it can utilize that refresh rate
4:07
And drop down to I believe 60 Hz. When it doesn't need it at 90 Hz
4:12
So as an example. Right now I'm pretty sure it's running at 90 Hz
4:16
Because we do have this crappy little animation here. Of the arrow downloading
4:20
So because there's some kind of animation. It automatically swaps to 90 Hz
4:26
In perfect world where there is no animation happening. Which again will be hard to show
4:37
Because now I have this garbage animated. It would be at 60 Hz
4:43
So right now it should switch to 60 Hz. And because of this it would give you better battery life
4:49
When you have your screen on. Now you have the high end standard options as well
4:54
So if you want you can set it to be permanently on 90. Though this will give you a worse battery life than the dynamic
5:00
Which dynamic retained the benefit of high. Without the drawbacks of high
5:05
So that's something that I would recommend using. If you want your refresh rate to be higher than typical
5:13
Now if you care only about battery life. Switch to standard 60 Hz
5:17
This will give you better battery life. Now moving on to additional options
5:25
It's going to be the options under the system and updates. And that is system navigation
5:31
So we have gesture navigation and three key navigation. Now these are presented to you throughout the setup process
5:37
So you can choose either one of those when you go into the setup
5:41
But if you want to change it later on after the setup. Obviously you need to navigate here
5:45
So I do personally prefer the gesture navigation. So I'm not going to switch it
5:49
But if you want the buttons. Then you can just swap it right here
5:53
Additionally we also have the settings right here. Which allows you to either show navigation bar or hide it
6:00
By default it's hidden which is I would argue nicer. It gives a cleaner look
6:04
But you can have this. There we go. The bar at the bottom
6:08
So it kind of shows you where you need to swipe. Though it works just as well without it
6:18
And moving on to the last option. It's the simple mode. Now this will be designed for probably elderly people
6:24
Or people that are visually impaired. So when enabled. Which I can do right now
6:30
There we go. As you can see it makes the apps absolutely humongous
6:35
And also increases the font size. So as you can see all the text is just significantly bigger
6:45
Compared to what it was before. It also removes the drawer for some idiotic reason again
6:52
Like why? And even worse of all. It not only removes the drawer
7:01
It removes the apps that you have installed. Or access to them
7:05
So these are not all the apps that we have installed on this device. But that's basically all we have access to
7:10
At least I think those aren't all the apps. So there we go
7:16
Now with that being said this will conclude the tweaks and the tricks that I wanted to show you
7:20
So if you found this very helpful then forget to hit like, subscribe and thanks for watching
