Welcome! So in front of me is a Simpson Galaxy fold and today I'll go over
0:11
quick unboxing along with a brief overview of the device. So as you can see this is the
0:17
box that comes in and inside of that box you have another box. So there we go. That
0:27
inside of that box you got another box. so let's just set that all the way to the side so I don't knock it off and in here we have
0:38
oh it almost fell out so I will say right of the bat the device was already set up so it's not
0:45
necessarily full experience of unboxing but when you pop it open you will have cardboard and this
0:53
kind of comes off along with the device so it has a separate box for the phone
1:00
and in here we have accessories but... So as you can see, there's a phone
1:08
Now, like I said, it was already unpacked before, so it's missing all that foil around it and stuff like that, but..
1:16
There we go, so we just set it to the side and probably already made it all smudgy and stuff
1:25
because I just touched it, and it's a fingerprint magnet. So, just close it
1:29
So just close this, set it on the sign, there's nothing inside of there. And in here, we have some Galaxy Fold in your service forever
1:37
Then you have a booklet. And while I'm opening that, I will actually show you something
1:43
But I found really interesting considering Samsung doesn't really include those normally
1:49
but I guess the foldable ones they do. So paperwork no one really cares
1:55
There we go. That's something that we care about. so you have this case and it's a really nice looking case I assume it's carbon
2:09
fiber considering you pay close to 2000 or well not close but exactly
2:15
2,000 for the device so it would be nice that they did include it now I'm gonna
2:19
quickly slap it on here although keep in mind to get it fully on you have
2:24
these sticky parts right here and you want to peel that off and then put
2:28
it on. I'm just going to be doing that without peeling it off so you just get a look
2:34
on look of how it looks like with this being on here. So you have something like this
2:43
Looks fairly nice I would say. Closed. So I just set up this side for now
2:51
And then inside of here we got a couple additional items like the AKs
2:59
headphones those are the earbuds that Samsung makes so they're fairly good I
3:06
don't believe they have noise cancelling unfortunately so that's kind of sad but then you can't really complain about getting a wireless earbutts
3:14
that are well good so let's just let that back in here then you get a 15
3:21
watt charger so that's nothing really special basically mediocre you also get this so that's a USB C to USB A plug if I could get it there we go the light in
3:35
there so we can plug stuff into it USB based storages and stuff like that
3:42
just a nice adult not every device includes that I mean at every Samsung device
3:48
majority of the other companies don't even bother giving you something like that so that's nice and then in here we have ear to
3:58
tips for the buds and then just a final cable so now that we got all the content
4:04
of the box out of the way just pile that up and move it out of the way on the
4:09
ground and from here we got the device itself so now we'll actually take off the
4:19
case so can get a good look of how the device actually looks like without the
4:25
case on there There we go
4:41
So hopefully it's in focus. So the device was released in September 2019, so not too long ago
4:50
And it cost roughly around $2,000. So from there, I'm going to base my opinion about the phone itself
4:58
the price and what you get for it. And also comparing it to a couple other
5:05
foldable options that I also have experienced, for instance, like the bugs that I'll be doing right after this the Motorola razor. So, now spoil
5:17
it's not very good. So from here, as you can see this is the main display and it's
5:22
inside, it folds also inside as you can see. So it is protected when you
5:28
close it with this smallish gap as you can see right here so it doesn't
5:36
fall fully flat and there's still crease that stuff can get into now the main
5:45
display is a 7.3 inch display with a resolution of 1536 by 2152 and that is
5:53
362 pixels per inch so nothing really super high but that in my opinion the display is super crystal clear I don't really see pixels
6:04
on it so to me the resolution doesn't really matter that much and body to screen
6:10
ratio on the inside is a 50 or more missing 50 85.7% so that's because you have
6:18
these kind of hefty puzzles right here all around and the camera cut out right
6:23
here and as you can see and there you have these sensors along with two different
6:28
cameras. So while we're on the camera topic right here, so these two cameras
6:34
are 10 and 8 megapixel both white sensors. The 8 megapixel one basically is a
6:41
depth sensor in a way. And they're nothing really special. They shoot at the
6:48
1080p videos and probably at let's see if we can get it to where is it? Flip it over
6:58
close that and let's go into these settings, rear front, there we go
7:08
So we can shoot it looks like 4K but everything is lacked to 30 frames so you don get the ability to go to 60 Kind of a shame But then if we like to flip it over let me just go back So when we flip back you actually are able to shoot at
7:31
1080p 60. Now you can also shoot at 4k 30. And you have actually three sensors, so if I
7:41
just lock it for now. Let me close this because the plastic and
7:45
side is not very durable material there. So you can see that we have two
7:50
different cameras right here, or three different cameras. So the main sensor is a
7:56
12 megapixel wide, then you have 12 megapixel telephoto and 16 megapixel
8:01
ultra wide. And I will right of the bat say that these are not the best
8:09
sensors I have seen on Samsung devices especially released in this year. I think I
8:14
compare it probably something close to like S8 or even lower so they don't blow
8:23
blow you out of the water with the quality of the photos just kind of a shame the
8:31
device itself has like six cameras I think all around and nothing really on here
8:38
with those cameras does anything special I would say I do have a little prop right
8:44
here as you can see. So we have a shark with the hat and a sword for some reason
8:53
Let me just put it up on something. What can I put it on
9:03
Let me just use this. A good box. So I'm going to capture a photo with this
9:11
As I can already see on the camera you have fairly dark. dark under there
9:17
So as you can see, the photo came out fairly nice but I wouldn't say it's amazing
9:29
Let's see how it's... ...itlust it's amazing
9:39
Let's see how it does when you blast it with light. light when you have a little bit more drastic lighting that it will
9:49
probably struggle with so I'm trying to kind of show of more like an
9:58
HDR environment where it would need to balance the sunlight with with some
10:09
AI stuff now I'm not going to into all that all the stuff with doing it manually and stuff like that I just want to
10:20
show how it does by default so as you can see the photo seems a little bit
10:27
darkish below losing detail I would say that still actually came out a little bit
10:39
better but honestly if you start making photos without like perfect lighting I
10:45
would say from experience I was just messing around with the camera and it wasn't
10:50
taking the brightest or not even brightest I meant the clearest photos
10:56
they were coming out pixelated for some reason although still not as bad as
11:02
the as the other foldable device which I said before the razor
11:09
So it looks like it's right now trying to use one of the autofocus to catch focus on the situation
11:17
That's what it was doing that here pulsing. Okay, let me just put the camera, I mean that the camera the light a little bit higher
11:24
and there we go. So continuing on, I already set the front, well, the main display was a 7.3
11:33
Now you also have the secondary display, which I find really nice
11:38
A lot of people complain about the size of it. I'd say 4.6 inch a 720b display
11:47
which says 720 by 1680. And it's also a super amulet display
11:57
As you can see, really nice. Also launches a camera. You can use the black one as you can see
12:02
Flip it onto the front one, which the front one will not be the inside display
12:06
It will be there's another camera right here. So let's just flip it over. And as can see, there is another one
12:11
So it's this one right here. So you have a couple different choices for cameras
12:18
So let's leave that. And this display is fully functional. You can use a phone solely off of this display
12:24
which not every phone has that, majority of the other one, foldable ones
12:29
I would say apart from the Huawei, even though they would have like additional display
12:35
almost all of them are virtually, useless. This one is fully usable. You can run only off of this display if you want to
12:44
if the one inside breaks. For instance, you can use this one without any limitations
12:49
And whenever you're doing something, as you've probably seen all those previews of the
12:54
fault before, the super stressed out guy doing the preview of this device when on a conference
13:02
you're seeing that you could launch something like Maps as an example or any kind of app like
13:07
YouTube and when you open it up it will resume that instantaneously so you don't
13:15
really get the you don't lose any time you can flip it over get a full view of it so
13:21
just a nice progression now also another thing that I'll say when you're using the
13:28
inside screen you do have couple things that I can do you can I think have four
13:33
different or three different apps running at the same time as you can see there is YouTube
13:37
We can drop on browser. So that's another one. Let's extend it once more
13:44
Let's drop notes on top of it. So we can drag it either on top here or here
13:49
Then it's extended once more. Drag over Chrome as an example. And you can drop update it on here
13:58
So yeah, you can have four different apps open at the same time. So the fourth one will be as a window
14:04
As you can see like this, which you can actually research. size if you want to move around, if I can grab it somehow. Still kind of learning how to
14:13
use this. Normally you should be able to drag it around. It looks like for now I can't
14:19
And all these other apps are fully usable so you can interact with everything as you
14:25
can see and everything works just fine. And you could also watch a YouTube while
14:31
doing interacting with three different apps at the same time So a really nice multitasking I would say Although if you close it you lose well almost all of them The tiny screen in the front is not really suitable for that
14:50
And one thing that I kind of find to be a mess is a pen
14:55
Now if you ever use the note devices, they come with a pen and they're smaller than this
15:01
But the pen is really nice. I've really enjoyed it. Here you don't get that
15:05
But then I also assumed that if you would, you probably would be damaging your screen
15:09
So they decided consciously to not include it because you're pressing the pen to the screen might actually damage it
15:16
These things are for some reason super fragile. And you could basically deform this screen by pressing your fingernail into it
15:25
So I would really try to take care of this display. So if anything gets in here and you close it, you have to have to be able to it
15:35
actually might damage the display permanently so it will break a pixel whatever and then it just
15:41
kind of like start spreading some black crap everywhere. I would advise you to look at
15:49
for instance Jerry Rigg videos where he demolishes them and he shows fairly well how brittle these
15:59
devices are. When it comes down to just the overall build quality of these devices
16:05
They're made of aluminum glass and plastic, plastic inside, as the screen here
16:12
Glass pack and aluminum frame. And they hold up fairly well in a durability test, so if you want to bend it or stuff like that
16:19
they tend to be fairly well designed. The hinges are really nice
16:24
They do hold. Although if you introduce something like dust or not dust but sand to the hinges
16:32
it will be just a audible nightmare. in my opinion. Imagine scratching a chalkboard with your nails, make that worse
16:41
That's basically what it will sound like every time you try to open the closet with the sand inside there
16:46
So it is a literal nightmare. And any kind of debris can get it in there
16:52
These devices are not sealed in any way. As you can see, if I flip it over
16:57
you have gaps all around here between the hinge. So any kind of debris can get
17:05
get in here even here skin see they did try to improve it with the with the iterations of the
17:15
device because this is the second one before you could basically pull all the plastic filling on here and this would break the display so with the second one
17:25
they did fix that up but still the device is not sealed in any way and any kind of
17:30
trash can get under the display Now, continuing on with the specifications probably, apart from talking about just a general
17:43
usability of the device, it comes with a, like I said, main pixel shooter is a 16 megapixel
17:51
that can shoot at 4K. The device itself has built in 512 gigabytes of storage with a 12 gigabyte of RAM so you have more
18:01
RAM than some people have on their computer and that is probably due to the
18:07
fact that you can slap it on those Samsung Docs and you can use it as a portable
18:12
computer in itself by using a secondary display and just having it connected that
18:17
dock you just plop it there and have a desktop experience almost and then the
18:24
device itself comes with a Snapdragon 855 so it's not the newest one but it's almost
18:30
the newest one I think at the moment you have 8x5 555 plus so you're just missing the plus and then one comes to the battery even
18:37
though the display or that the entire phone itself is kind of big this is an
18:42
example this is a Huawei mate 20 pro and as next as a comparison you can see
18:50
that it is a little bit more more than half of this phone itself so
19:01
Even though this is a huge phone, you don't really have much battery space
19:05
This thing has 4,380 milli-a-a-a-mattery which is, I think, even less than what I have right in my phone
19:13
or somewhere really close to what I have. And my phone is smaller
19:19
Keep in mind, I don't actually have two displays with a combined resolution probably twice as high of whatever this has
19:27
So you do have the benefit of having these tablet-like displays. which do fold
19:34
Now also apart from the storage being quite high, it comes to the UFS 3.0
19:39
That's a type of storage, comparable to an SSD in your computer
19:45
Now, primarily before you had the flash storages in, in majority of the smartphones before
19:51
and they weren't the fastest one. This uses something alongside of an SSD
19:55
but for the phone, which is super fast, transfers data really quickly
20:00
so it is nice that it's included in a phone that it has a fairly hefty price tag
20:07
Again, something that I cannot say for other foldable devices. And also, I'm not sure if I mentioned the front display
20:22
I might have mentioned, but if I didn't, we're going to say it quickly again
20:26
That was a 720p, 720 by 1680. display, Amolet, 16 million colors and all that jazz with a 4.6 inch small size
20:39
And then let's go lastly to the system of the device. So this comes with one UI from
20:48
Samsung, just a scan on an Android 9 by default but can be upgraded to an Android 10. So the newest
20:55
one on the market. So that is a really nice thing. And yeah, now as you can see you can also bring up this stuff apparently here
21:05
I just found that out right now by checking what that was
21:09
What else is there to say? It has a fingerprint sensor on the side
21:16
So if I close it, you can see it. There we go. It's this thing right here, that's the fingerprint sensor
21:26
It does not double as a button. Now you do have a power key right here. here or side button however you want to call it Samsung started calling them side keys so
21:37
you don't try to power off the device even though you have three different side keys they call
21:44
these volume keys this is a side key because they disabled power off feature on it and just
21:50
slapped a Pixby function to it if you try to hold it as you can see right now so now
21:56
now personally I not our greatest fan all the Pixby key and you can change it in the settings to some kind of other function So that that is nice but I kind of don like just the idea of trying to jam you with the Bixby everywhere
22:11
and literally removing the previous one that was on the other side and now substituting it for the power key
22:17
Now don't worry, you still can lock the device normally as you would with this button
22:23
so the function of unlocking and unlocking the device is still there
22:29
And lastly, I will say about the charging. So it does have a 15 watt fast charging
22:38
Nothing really mind-blowing. I think nowadays devices, even like older ones than this
22:43
reached out to 60 watt charging. I assume, in this case they might need a little bit more space inside
22:50
and they didn't want to compromise to make the device even bigger. So you do have to spend about a couple hours, about three hours to charge this device instead of like 40 minutes
23:02
And it also has a 15 watt fast charging, the Chi charging
23:09
So if you have a good chi charger you can slap that on that charger, the wireless one, and it will also charge
23:16
That's why you have glass pack probably and also because it feels more premium
23:22
As you can probably see right now, the device is an absolute finger magnet
23:27
And when it comes down to the inside display, when you get it all fingered up and stuff
23:33
as you can see, it's already kind of smudgy. This is a nightmare to clean
23:39
Number one, because for me, at least I'm scared that I'm going to scratch it. And number two, the smudges and grease doesn't want to come off of this plastic display
23:49
So that is really annoying to clean. You have to basically polish it till it's clean
23:54
And also because of the gaps right here, or like, bezzles, I would say, on the display all around
24:02
it still kind of leaves a little bit of like grease or just dirt
24:07
I would say, in the, in the bezels right here. That is really hard to get because it's not flush us or by now used to
24:18
So yeah, I think this is everything that's just to. everything that I can say about this device
24:23
Now I'll also go over a appearance wise from every angle. Just kind of get the light a little bit better shining
24:30
because it doesn't really do a very good job showing it. So as can see, at the bottom you do have only a charging port
24:40
USB type C, a microphone I assume, and a loud speaker right here
24:46
Then on the top you have, I believe this is another speaker right here
24:51
If you can get the light there, there we go. So you have the loudspeaker and other microphone for, you know, voice calls
25:01
Then on the left side you have a SIM tripe, this thing right here
25:10
And then on the right you do have volume record, sparky, fingerprint sensor and just antenna
25:15
bands all around. So those are the sides, top bottom and middle
25:21
Then on the closed front, I guess, I'm not sure how to call it
25:27
You have the speaker when you pick up the calls. You don't actually open it up to call
25:32
You have it closed like this. Camera. Display right here. Just light it up
25:39
There we go. Display. Nothing right here. So it's just a seamless glass almost apart from this cutout right here for the speaker
25:48
And then right here you have just the metal framing. a hinge framing with a nice Samsung Logro
25:55
that hides away when you open it up as you can see
25:58
And on the back you have the triple camera set up with the flash
26:02
and some right here writing. Basically the marking has every device is on the bottom on the
26:10
I don't think I can get it on the camera. It's really hard to get it. It is fairly famed to right now so
26:18
it's acceptable that a camera doesn't actually see it. And yeah, now one thing that I'll say right of the bat, if you're a skeptical person
26:28
about the foldable devices out of all the ones that exist, I tried basically all of them
26:35
apart from the mate X. And this right now is, in my opinion, the best one. It feels the most
26:42
premium, most well-built. You don't feel like it's going to break right off the bat. It does
26:51
does have a satisfying weight to it although some people it might be a little bit heavy
26:56
and it does weigh over 200 grams I believe so it's not the lightest device out there
27:07
but other than that I feel like it's well built it feels nice in hand and the ability to
27:14
flip the device open like so and just resume whatever you were doing and have this entire
27:19
check intox screen, adds a lot of productivity in my opinion. And I personally, I might not have been the biggest fan of foldable ones
27:28
foldable devices, but this, in my opinion, is the best way to do it
27:33
If you plan to have one of those like Razor phones, or for instance, Galaxy Z-Flip, it's virtually a normal smartphone
27:41
as we have right now with, like, for instance, just what I have
27:46
but with the ability to be folded and have. And in this case, you're overpaying for the fact that it can be folded
27:54
And also it's not as durable, I would say. You lose also waterproofing
27:59
None of the foldable devices are waterproof, so that's one thing to keep in mind
28:04
So yeah, this one feels, in my opinion, the best of all of them
28:09
And if you're planning to buy any one of the foldable devices, I'll at the moment recommend this one
28:16
Now it is not the cheapest one. based on the fact that it costs, well, $2,000 in dollars
28:25
But then he also get the wireless AKG headphones, which all in itself, I think, costs like $200
28:32
So this device itself, even though it's better, it doesn't cost much more than something like the
28:39
for instance, the Motorola Razor, which costs $1.5,000, or Z-flip that costs, I believe, 1,300
28:48
or something along those lines. Now it's still more expensive, but you can a little bit negate that price
28:55
by, for instance, selling the headphones if you don't want them. And the device is, in my opinion
29:00
just overly better. I am kind of repeating myself, so I guess this would be probably the end
29:07
I really like this device and nothing else to really say. So if you found this video helpful
