Welcome, in front of me is a Xiaomi Mi 11i and today I'll show you how to enable the
0:13
portable hotspot and also set it up. And to get started, let's pull down the notification panel and look for the hotspot toggle, which
0:21
for me looks to be right here. So once you find it, you can hold the toggle, this will quickly take you to the settings
0:30
where you can customize it by tapping on Setup Portable Hotspot. And right off the bat it selects password, which is actually a good thing, because if
0:39
you tap on this little eye icon, you will see that the password that is generated right
0:44
here is just some complete garbage password, just full of randomly generated numbers and letters
0:52
So I would just remove this one and set a new one
0:56
Now it does need to have 8 characters in length, so let's set it up
1:03
There we go. I did set it up to be relatively simple, but honestly it doesn't really matter how complex
1:10
or simple it is, it's just a hotspot. So if you're not planning to run it 24x7, the password shouldn't really matter that much
1:19
But I still recommend you to have a password, because otherwise without it, people can just
1:23
simply connect to your hotspot at any moment without your permission in a way
1:29
Now above that we have the SSID, which is just a simple way of describing the name of
1:36
the hotspot. You can change it if you want to, but by default it's gonna have always the name of the device
1:41
So when you're looking for your hotspot, you're gonna be looking for this name right here
1:46
And below that we have a couple of additional settings, so security, and like I said, keep
1:51
it as it is, you can turn it off if you want to, but then anybody can connect to your hotspot
1:57
Then we have device identification, portable hotspot, also select AP band. This will allow us to choose between 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi
2:08
If whatever the device you will be connecting to this hotspot with is relatively new, I
2:12
would recommend you to go for the 5GHz Wi-Fi. This will provide you a more stable connection along with just a faster network
2:21
And if you're not sure if your device supports 5GHz Wi-Fi, then you can simply enable it
2:28
at 5GHz. Try to connect to it. If the device doesn't see your hotspot at all, that means that it doesn't support it
2:35
But if it does see it, then it supports it and you can keep it
2:39
Now going back to the non-supporting option, if the device doesn't support it, then you
2:42
can just go back here and change it back to 2.4GHz and it should work as well without
2:47
any kind of problem there. And that's about it. Now once you're done with setting it up, make sure you tap right here on the check mark
2:54
to save the settings. And from here, you can pull down the notification panel once more and tap on the toggle to turn
3:00
it on whenever you need it. Now additionally, when you enable it, the hotspot will use a little bit more of your
3:10
battery on the device. So when you're done with the hotspot, try to remember to turn it off
3:15
If you don't need it, you don't really... it's basically a shame to waste the battery
3:20
and charge your device more often just because the hotspot is enabled when it's not needed
3:25
So to do so, tap on the toggle again and now it's off
3:29
So that is how you would set it up and use the hotspot. And if you found this very helpful, don't forget to hit like, subscribe, and thanks
