Welcome, in front of me is a Samsung Galaxy M51 and today I'll show you how to go through
0:11
the setup process of the device. So when you get started and boot up the device you'll be presented with the welcome screen
0:17
right here where you just get to press the blue arrow and then select your language
0:21
So I'm going to switch to English. There we go. And tap on next
0:27
Connect to mobile network. Now this will work if you have a sim card in here but I'm not planning to insert one
0:34
so I'm just going to tap on next and skip this. Check out some info to get started
0:38
So we have obviously the end user license agreement which you do have to agree to and
0:43
rest of it is optional. Now if you're interested in reading it you can tap on the details and you have the basically
0:48
entire agreement right over here. And then additional things like sending of diagnostic data, information linking and stuff
0:55
like that are optional. So if you don't want it you can completely leave it unchecked and proceed further
1:02
And then we have the ability to connect to Wi-Fi. Now this step again is optional so if you don't have Wi-Fi near you you can skip it
1:09
And the only downside of it is throughout the setup you won't be provided with the option
1:13
to log into your Google account and also restore your device from a Google backup
1:18
But rest assured you can still do that later after the setup just through settings
1:24
And then we go copy apps and data. This is through an application
1:27
So I'm going to skip this. I'm planning to set it up as new anyway
1:32
Then we have date and time but it looks like it's almost correct
1:37
Maybe not but you basically tap on it and change the time by choosing it 9, what is
1:45
it like 48. There we go. Good enough. There we go. So then tap on next once you set it up and we have Google services
1:57
So location, scanning and send user and diagnostic data. Now you can tap on the arrow to expand it and read exactly what you're agreeing to here
2:06
But basically the gist of it is that use location is just a GPS tracking that is used by things
2:11
like Google Maps to accurately position you on the map and give you correct routes to
2:16
your destination if you're using it as a GPS navigation. Then I have scanning for scanning and send user diagnostic data
2:23
Basically gathers data on you and sends it to Google. Now we can disable every one of these if you don't want it and then scroll down and tap
2:31
on accept at the bottom. And on the next page you have the option to add a protection to our device
2:38
So face recognition, fingerprint, pin pattern, password. Now the first two options cannot be set without one of the three lower ones
2:48
So if you want to set either fingerprint, face recognition or both, you will still need
2:52
pin pattern or password. I'm going to go with the pattern for now
2:58
So draw the pattern, continue, draw the pattern, confirm and it's set
3:04
Then get recommended apps. So we have Samsung internet browser, no thanks
3:10
Samsung members, I'm going to disable that. Samsung notes, although this might be useful
3:15
And voice recorder also might be useful. So you can keep the ones that you want and disable the ones that you don't
3:23
Tap on next and from here you can sign in to your Samsung account
3:28
Now this is completely optional and for probably majority of us this might not be needed or
3:37
might not be useful. If I try to skip it you will see that it gives us the pop-up right here
3:42
So we skip on Samsung cloud, galaxy themes, find my mobile and galaxy store
3:49
Now comparing it to Google services, Samsung cloud, Google drive, galaxy themes, that is
3:58
the only one that doesn't have an equivalent here. Find my mobile, Google has it built in anyway, galaxy store, play store
4:06
So the only thing that you're really missing out on that you wouldn't be getting anything
4:10
of is the galaxy themes. I'm going to skip it anyway and then tap on finish and we're all done
4:18
After a brief break, there we go. So there we go, that's the setup of the device
4:23
