Welcome, in front of me is a TCL 305i and today I'll show you how you can enable and also set up
0:06
your portable hotspot. So to get started, you want to pull down your notifications by swiping down
0:14
from the top of your screen and then swipe down once again to extend the list of visible toggles
0:19
Here we're looking for hotspot toggle. So if it's not visible somewhere here, we might need to add
0:25
which looks to be the case for me. So we can do so by clicking right here on this edit option
0:32
And you can see that there is a bunch of toggles. Those are the ones that are turned off. And one of those toggles is hotspot. Once you see it, you want to hold it
0:39
the text above it will change to drag here to remove. So we're going to drag over that text
0:44
drop it, and this will get added to the toggles that we have access to from our notification
0:48
tray. Click on the checkmark, and it should be somewhere here. For me, it is as the last one
0:54
Anyway, once you see this toggle, you want to hold it now. This will then quickly take you to the
1:00
settings. And the reason you might want to navigate to the settings is because here you'll
1:04
find hotspot password. And by default, this will be a randomly generated password. Without
1:10
navigating here, you have no way of knowing what it is set to. I do recommend changing it because
1:16
it is not a very convenient password as you can obviously see how to remember. So I get rid of it
1:22
and set up my own new password. Now there can be letters, numbers, it doesn't really matter
1:27
I choose to just pick a very simple password for this purpose. And there we go. Now there's also
1:34
advanced settings, which gives us a couple additional options like turn off hotspot automatically, which I would recommend turning on and then selecting it to something a little
1:42
bit more than 90 seconds because that is just too short. So 15 minutes should be good enough
1:50
And what this will do is once you stop using your hotspot for the 15 minutes, the device or more like
1:57
once you stop using the hotspot, it will begin a countdown. And after 15 minutes, it's going to
2:03
automatically turn it off. Now the reason you might want to have it turned off automatically
2:07
as if you forget about it, hotspot will be running in the background and consuming
2:11
more of your phone's battery than it would typically do. So if you're not using it
2:17
there is really no reason for it to be running in the background. And hence this option
2:20
will help you out with having a little bit of a better battery life once you forget about your
2:26
hotspot. Anyway, we can close this. And whenever you want to enable your hotspot, find the toggle
2:34
top on it. I'm going to disable it and do check one more thing. Some devices that are a little
2:40
bit more budget tend to use the same antennas as Wi Fi to use and that they use for hotspot
2:46
And if I enable this, this is the case here as well. So I did want to check that out. As you can
2:52
see, Wi Fi got automatically turned off once hotspot got turned on. And like I said, this is
2:58
because both of those use the same antennas. Therefore, only one of these features can be
3:04
utilized at a time. Now the phone is conveniently going to turn it off. And once you're done using
3:10
your hotspot, turn it back on. So you don't really need to worry about it all that much
3:14
Just know that once you turn on hotspot, you will be primarily using your mobile data for whatever
3:21
network purposes you need it for, and not the Wi Fi. So that is something that you will need
3:26
to keep in mind, especially if your data plan tends to have some kind of low data associated
3:33
with it. A couple of gigabytes, you might be a little bit more worried about this. But if you
3:38
have something like five gigs or above, I would assume you don't really need to worry all that
3:43
much about it. Anyway, that being said, if you found this very helpful, don't forget to hit like
3:49
subscribe and thanks for watching
