First of all you need to open one of your apps that you wish to use in split screen view

I will go with Chrome. Then click on this square button to access background apps

and tap on the top right corner of your app. Then select the other one

I will go with Messages. Now you need to hold the top line of your first app

and drag it up until you see this area or down. When ready, let go
