Welcome, in front of me I have a ZTE Blade A72s and today I'll show you a couple tweaks and tricks you can do on this device
0:15
So, to get started we're going to open up settings and we're going to begin by navigating into the home screen, right over here
0:23
where we'll find one of the things that I like to change on my devices, which is the icon layout
0:27
Now, by default it's always set to something like in the middle, but we can increase it to 5x6, as it's possible right here
0:36
which, give it a second, and it will then shift how many icons can fit on the screen, clamping them up a little bit closer
0:45
so for some people this might not be what they're looking for, because it will be a little bit more claustrophobic
0:51
a lot more clutter on the screen, as you can see probably right over here. But, I just like the, personally like the, how close the apps are and also the fact that it shrinks them a little bit
1:04
so it does give it a nicer look, in my opinion. Now in here we also have things like the, what do we have right here actually, I never actually looked into it
1:15
so we have home screen badge apps, icons, so this just allows you to change what the
1:19
basically when you have a notification that shows you this dot, you can change it to, for instance, a number
1:27
So this gives a little bit more info. We have some app autofill, autofill empty, space, that's just for the home screen, I don't really care for that one
1:40
One important one is the home screen mode, so that's something that people might want to change
1:45
So we have drawer mode, I believe this is a default one, what it does is basically allows you to change between the
1:52
drawer mode is basically the ability to pull out all the apps by swiping up
2:00
while the, what is the other one, the standard mode is just a, kind of like an iPhone-esque looking home screen
2:10
where you basically have all your apps smack in the middle of the home screen. I personally don't like that, it makes it super cluttery, so imagine that all these apps are just always on your home screen
2:22
It's not necessarily the cleanest thing, so I do prefer the drawer. But if you want to change it, obviously you have the option in there
2:29
Now moving on to the next option, it's going to be the personalization, so it's right above the home screen
2:37
and here we have a couple of different things that we can customize. Now I don't really have anything downloaded on the device to showcase this, but as an example under icons you can change the shape of them
2:47
and if you have additional icon packs you can change them right here as well. Then you have colors, this allows you to change the color scheme of things like the toggled on switches right here
2:59
and also how the bubbles around messages and so on appear, and what color they appear, more precisely
3:04
So you can change it right down here, and then also you can change the shape of the toggles if you want to
3:12
From there just make sure that you always apply it for the changes to actually take place
3:23
I did pick probably a very crappy color because now it almost looks like everything is turned on or off at the same time, so I have no clue
3:33
So now it's on, now it's off, great. Not the best color. The grayish blackish one, probably stay away from it
3:44
Now anyway, moving further, we have things like also fonts, so you can change the font type along with the size of it
3:51
and weight, I'm not exactly sure what weight is. Oh, just making it more bold, okay
3:58
And we have also animation speed, which I think I'm gonna stick with brisk one, which is basically the fastest one
4:08
Now anyway, moving on to the next options, it's going to be under the display, and that's the dark mode, which is right here, this tile
4:15
You can tap on it, and we have the typical toggle to turn it on and off, but you also have the option to set it up to be automatic
4:24
and when you tap on the text itself, it takes you to the settings and gives you the option to either set it from sunset to sunrise
4:31
or on a custom timer of your choice, so it starts and ends at a specifically provided time
4:39
Now moving on to the next option, it's going to be the display of numbers instead of actual icons for apps that give you notification
4:52
It's just to kind of tidy it up, make it look a little bit cleaner. As personal preference, obviously not everyone will like this, because it does remove information
5:02
So right now I know that I have a notification from Google Play Store and from Gmail
5:10
but obviously with a number it hides them and just gives me a simple number of notifications
5:16
so then if I want to check it, I would need to pull it down and see it right here. But anyway, if you're interested in this, we're going to navigate to the notifications and status bar
5:27
and here we should have the toggle for it showing only quantity on the status bar
5:35
And there we go. As you can see, it shows quantity now. For some reason it shows 19. Not exactly sure where it's getting the 19 from
5:45
Interesting. Maybe it was just bugged. Hopefully next time it's going to show a correct number
5:57
Now anyway, moving on to the last option, it's going to be the gesture navigation
6:02
which I can find by going into the system and update, and then at the bottom we'll have looking for system navigation
6:10
And here we have our gestures, so we can enable that if you're interested in this. It removes the buttons from the bottom and substitutes them for gestures
6:18
which are displayed right here on how to use them. I have never done so before, you can just watch this to get a very good idea on how it works
6:26
And additionally, we also have a couple more settings associated with gestures, like the left and right back gesture sensitivity, so as you can see when you swipe
6:36
So you can increase it. As you can see, it shows you this blue bar. This is where your finger needs to start touching and then swipe out of it to activate the gesture
6:46
So if you find that maybe you're missing it and it doesn't activate the gestures
6:51
you can increase this panel to be more sensitive to the gesture, for the back gesture specifically
6:59
And we also have this one right here, so display button indicator
7:04
So this just adds this typical looking bar at the bottom, which is for some reason barely visible right here
7:12
You can just faintly see it almost at the very bezel of the phone. Honestly, it serves no purpose
7:19
So I do prefer to hide it for the cleaner look. In other devices, it's a little bit more visible, a little bit more positioned higher
7:29
So as an example right here, you can see that it is significantly higher than it was visible right here
7:35
But also other devices like the one that I showed you can't deal with it being hidden
7:40
because overpriced device can't function with that. So here, it works just fine. When you hide it, no problem there
7:48
So there we go. Those are all the tweaks and tricks I want to share with you. And if you found this very helpful, don't forget to hit like, subscribe, and thanks for watching
