Welcome. I'm from the museum Shiloh Era 4X and today I'll show you how to set up the device
0:14
So when you first boot up the device, you'll be presented with the welcome screen as I am right now
0:19
So you get to start off by choosing your language. So it looks like it's set to English. I'm gonna
0:26
change it to English. I'll just change it to Canadian. So once you choose the language, let's tap on start
0:41
Then you have the SIM card. Now this step is completely optional. You can insert a SIM card
0:45
right now or do it after the setup or in a completely different day and it will not change
0:51
anything. So I'm just gonna skip it for now. Then you have Wi-Fi connection. Again, you can
0:55
completely skip that and connect to it later on if you wish to. You might not have Wi-Fi connection
1:00
right near you, so you don't need to connect to it right now. The only thing you will lose out
1:05
at this moment is a prompt to log in to Google, but that's about it. And then you have a time and
1:13
date, which looks like it's being actually set up correctly. Actually, no, it's not really correct
1:22
It's a couple hours off. So if you would insert a SIM card or connect to Wi-Fi, the time and date
1:32
will be set automatically. Or you can just simply, for instance, change it to your time zone and that
1:39
probably will fix the problem as well. So yep, and now it will be correct. So let's stop on next
1:48
Then you have a name. This applies to the name of the device. If you choose to leave it empty, it will
1:54
just name it after the device itself. So it's gonna be the Shiloh URA4X or you can just
2:00
change it to something that you wish to have it show up later on. So let's stop on next here
2:06
Then you have Protect Your Device or Your Phone, which allows you to set pattern, PIN, password
2:13
as a locking method of your device. Or you can completely skip this if you wish to. I'm just
2:19
gonna select Set Up Pattern. And here you have Secure Startup. I would advise to not use it honestly
2:28
to select no. What it basically does is when the device is turning on, it will pop you a
2:34
whatever method you chose to lock your device. So for instance with me it's Pattern
2:38
So it's gonna, before it actually fully turns on, it's gonna tell me insert your pattern and then I
2:44
insert it. The device turns on and then you're on the lock screen where you have to put in the
2:49
pattern once more anyway to unlock the device. And if you have some kind of PIN for your SIM card
2:54
and the device is booting up as well, you need to put that PIN as well. So we have three different
3:00
unlocks that you will need to do just to boot into your device which honestly is obnoxious and
3:05
pointless anyway. So I'm just gonna choose no. And then let's draw the pattern. Tap on next
3:11
Redraw the same pattern once more. Confirm. And then you have Google Services. So you can tap on
3:19
the arrow right here to extend what it and read what it does. You have basically some localization
3:26
services which tracks where you are and a couple other basically send user and diagnostic data
3:32
So basically anything that Google can gather on you. Here you can disable or enable this. Now keep
3:39
in mind that for instance if you disable localization like I have done right now, some of the apps that
3:45
you will want to use will require it and without them they won't work. And for the most part things
3:51
like for instance Google Maps is understandable that it means your location but then there are
3:57
stuff like Xiaomi's home appliances that require your localization which is just complete garbage
4:04
There is no need for them and without them they won't actually work. So sometimes you're just
4:09
stuck with giving away your localization to companies that don't really need it
4:15
So once whatever you choose here, once you're done you can tap on accept at the bottom
4:20
And then anything else? Nope. And we should be right about done with the setup
4:33
And there we go. So we're on the home screen now. So that is basically how you would set up your
4:38
device and if you found this video helpful don't forget to hit like, subscribe and thanks for watching
