Everyone is a Samsung Galaxy S-21 Ultra, and today I'll show you several tweaks and tricks you
0:14
can do on this device. Now starting off, we can begin with the Advent adaptive refresh rate, which basically allows
0:21
you to change the refresh rate of the device. Now by default it is set to the adaptive version of it, which changes the refresh rate
0:29
automatically so you don't actually have to do anything and in other words
0:34
so when you're for instance in the content that can use high refresh rate
0:40
to make it look smoother for instance like right here now bear with me
0:44
this won't be very visible on the camera just because the camera is recording
0:50
at 60 frames while this is running at 120 and anything past the 60 is just kind of
0:56
lost for the camera but if you have the device you can check it out yourself. So by default with the adaptive one, when you scroll up and down
1:04
you'll have the high refresh rate, but then when you're not doing anything, it will drop the
1:08
refresh rate to like 60, sometimes even 40, which in normal circumstances, it would look
1:13
a little bit atrocious at 40, but then when you're looking at pictures, stuff like that
1:18
it doesn't really matter at that point. Now, if for you, as an example, you don't really see
1:23
any difference between it, between 60 and 120, then it's probably going to be more beneficial
1:29
for you to drop it to 60 and have it locked to that frame rate because whenever the device is running at higher refresh rates
1:36
like 120, it will consume a little bit more battery. It needs to basically do a little bit more processing power
1:42
in the background to do that. So what you want to do is go under the display in the settings
1:48
and find the motion smoothness and then change it to standard. Now when you change it to standard
1:54
it will become this kind of a little bit more choppy image. At least that's how I see it
1:58
So yeah, I'm going to go back to the adaptive because I personally do see a difference
2:04
and I prefer that way. Now moving on to the next option, it's just going to be the dark mode, which you can simply
2:09
access quickly in the notification panel, dark mode, click on that and voila, it changes into dark
2:16
Now this will also persist into the default application, so messages, phone, well, not camera
2:22
camera's already dark, Google, photos, settings. So basically everything will be changed into dark mode
2:30
Now, outside of it being dark as it is, it also has an additional benefit, which isn't really stated anywhere
2:37
Because this device is using an Amelette display, the pixels are self-lit
2:43
So anything that is fully black, like the area right here, the ones like between the screen or between like the options is fully black
2:52
So those pixels aren't actually lit up. They're basically completely off right now
2:56
and because they're off they're going to consume obviously less power meaning that your battery will last a little bit longer. Now that being said the
3:03
battery gain from this is nothing significant. It's maybe going to be an hour at
3:08
max so just keep that in mind but it's there and I thought it would be worth
3:13
mentioning. Now moving on to the next one it's going to be more for the
3:17
visually impaired people and it is the easy mode Now we can find it again under the settings display right here and then let scroll down and we should see easy mode right over here and as you can see it gives you a little bit of a visual
3:33
image on how it's going to change the overall aesthetic of the device but when you
3:37
enable it pay attention to the text it now became super huge you also have a touch and hold
3:43
delay and this is i believe for like the for the voice assistant or navigation um
3:51
But yeah, when you leave it, you can see this is the settings, or not the settings, the main homepage
3:57
which has now these gigantic icons, like I said, for easier accessibility
4:05
for those people that would struggle with the tiny ones. So, yeah, as you can see, everything is now huge, including text
4:14
Go into settings, everything here is enlarged as well. So, yeah, I'm going to go back to the
4:21
normal mode because for me it's a little bit confusing. When it's bigger, everything is placed in different areas than I would be expecting it
4:30
So it does mess with me a little bit. Where was it
4:37
There we go, easy mode. So I'm going to disable it right now and go back to the normal
4:41
There we go. So, moving on to the next thing, it's going to be the game launcher
4:47
And this is strictly for people that like to play games. but let's say that they might not really want to also have the apps on their home screen or, for instance, Apptray
4:59
And also I want to gain a little bit of a benefit from using the launcher itself
5:05
So, Samsung does come with this application called Game Launcher. If I can actually find it, there we go, game launcher
5:13
And from here, let's just like read to whatever it pops up. There we go. And from the application, as you can see, you have just kind of several information
5:21
you can go to the Galaxy Store, you can pull up and normally here you would see all
5:25
the games that have installed on your device. For me that's basically zero because I don't have anything installed here
5:32
Now outside of that you also have the option to go into the settings as an example here and
5:37
do things like hide. So here we go show game apps and you can show them only in the game launcher which will remove
5:44
them from your home screen and also from your app tray and they would only be accessible
5:47
through the game launcher in here. your device a little bit cleaner. Now apart from that you do have also certain settings
5:57
associated with performance along with, let's see, where is it, along with just notifications
6:04
in general how the device gives you notifications when you're playing games. Now this will only apply
6:09
if you launch the games through the game launcher so just remember that. So right here we can
6:15
disable notifications I believe or mute them. We have also, let's see
6:21
Here we have some game notifications, so it looks like the game launcher will remove the
6:27
game notifications from just like right here and only keep them in the game launcher which
6:33
is I would say really nice. I personally hate when the games just start spamming you with notifications for no reason
6:41
But you can go around the game launcher and check out different settings
6:45
It worth checking out I would say Now moving on to the next option it going to be the next option It going to be the video enhancer So this will be strictly for the video applications By default there is I believe three applications here that will qualify for this option
7:00
And again it's going to be under the display section and it's, I think on the display
7:05
No, it's actually my bad. It's under advanced features. So let's scroll down, advanced features
7:11
And here we should have video enhancer somewhere. There we are, video enhancer
7:16
video enhancer. As you can see there is a toggle for it so you can top on it to enable it
7:20
but you can also top on the word itself and it will take you to the video enhancer option
7:26
where you can actually see the difference that it will make to the overall image quality
7:33
So here is the image example and when you enable it, as you can see it becomes a little bit
7:37
brighter and the shadows a little bit more visible, making it also a little bit less vibrant
7:42
overall the clarity is improved in my opinion. Now as can see it does include four different apps that it supports right of the bat
7:51
that are basically installed on the device from the get-go. Now if you would install more apps on here, you would have to probably check them on
7:59
So as can see basically see them like it is and then you have to just turn them on
8:03
So they would be included in the video enhancer option. Now moving on to the next option, it's going to be the pop-up view
8:11
and there is an easy way to access it. There's two ways, actually
8:16
but I'm going to show up the first one, which is by the panel that is on the side
8:20
If I can actually grab it, there we go. So yeah, once you grab it from the side
8:26
I'm sure if it's visible on the camera. It is barely visible
8:30
Maybe if I cover it, you can see it starting off here going down
8:34
So if you grab that, it'll pull out the panel. And from here, you have a bunch of applications
8:39
You can top basically on every app. that is on your phone, scroll through it
8:45
You can grab any kind of application from here, so you just grab it and drag it over
8:50
and now it's in pop-up view. Now from here you can, for instance, minimize it like so
8:57
make it super small. If you go home, it's going to minimize it into an uphead
9:02
Again, you can top on it to enlarge it, and it's fully usable. And you can also tap on the blue bar
9:08
or it is grayish, but if you interact with the window, if you make it full, well, the main priority is going to be blue
9:16
So you can tap on that and from here you can minimize it into this, again, uphead
9:21
or you can also maximize it to be full screen. And also there was a close option with the X
9:29
Now, while I was already on this side panel, the other option, the other thing that I want to show is just the side panel itself
9:37
So if I grab it and pull it out right here, it does come by default with only the apps page, right
9:43
But we can top on the settings icon, and this will give us option to add more panels to it
9:49
increasing its usability. So right here we have things like live messages, people
9:54
smart select tasks, weather, tools, reminders, glibboard. So these are the default ones that come with the device
10:00
plus there is more under the Galaxy Store, although some of the better ones will be paid
10:05
so keep that in mind. The price of them does vary. between the creator but it's somewhere I believe in like a dollar or three
10:12
dollars and if something is there that would really interest you I guess it might be worth just dropping a dollar or so for it But anyway I going to add a couple of the ones that are already existing in here
10:27
There we go. So once I leave it, can I get to pull out the panel now
10:32
There we go. And from here, you can swipe across it to access the different panels now
10:38
giving you a little bit more accessibility. And this panel will be accessible basically anywhere you are
10:43
as you can see, you can get it from any kind of application. Now, moving on to the next option, it's going to be the gesture navigation
10:53
and this is going to be strictly to make the device cleaner and easier to use
10:57
also make it join the 2020 year and above for the gestures
11:03
Because, let's be honest, personally, I just hate the buttons that are at the bottom
11:09
They feel super outdated, and the back, If you want to go back, you have to press the button
11:15
It is, honestly, it didn't age too well. So things like gesture navigation where we can swipe from the edges of the display
11:23
to go back as a way better way of navigating through a device. I'm going to quickly go over it once I enable it
11:29
So let's go into these settings. From here we're going to go again into the display
11:34
I believe it's somewhere at the bottom. Navigation bar, there we go
11:38
And all you need to do is select the swipe gestures. and there we go
11:43
So by default, if you swipe from the side, it will go back. You can see that there is an arrow appearing from either side
11:49
So this is basically a back gesture. You have a home gesture which is swipe up
11:54
If you do it quickly, there we go. And then also swipe up and hold will take you into recent applications
12:01
Now, I'll also mention if you have some kind of thick glass on the display
12:05
and it is not necessarily designed for the screen as, for instance
12:10
that I have right now on. As you can see it kind of ends prematurely on the display
12:15
not really covering it entirely. The gestures are a little bit wonky because your
12:20
finger kind of does catch on the edge itself, which isn't necessarily the best kind of feeling
12:25
But if you have a better glass or none at all, this will be way better in terms of like
12:31
how it reacts to it. And also if you never use gesture navigation, you might be inclined to
12:36
try to go home by swiping up like this all on the screen
12:40
screen this won't be necessarily the best way of actually using the navigation so
12:46
if you want to have the best experience with it to use gestures which want to
12:52
do a swipe basically off the screen so as you can see my fingers off of the
12:55
screen literally and then you want to swipe up when you do that the gesture will
13:01
basically almost always react correctly as it's supposed to and same goes for
13:06
for like the back and the recent option so if you try
13:10
to swipe from the side. Now again the protection here makes it really hard. Actually I
13:17
don't really have anything to swipe back from so let's start with that but as can see it does
13:22
work well. And yeah so if you found this video helpful because that will conclude all the
13:29
tweaks that I want to share. Don't forget to hit like, subscribe and thanks for watching
