Welcome, Fenom is a Motorola Moto G 5G Plus and today I'll go over unboxing along with
0:12
a brief overview of the phone itself. So let's get it started
0:16
This is the box that it comes in obviously. Let's pop it open
0:20
As you can see there is nothing on here, just a flimsy cardboard box
0:28
So drop that to the side. Then we get the phone itself. I'm gonna tape it out and place it on the side for now
0:40
Then we get some paperwork. No one cares. SIM eject tool. Charging cable
0:50
So this is a type A to type C. So just a normal type C cable basically
0:56
And then a charger. That's nice. There's like an engraving of 20 on it
1:07
Let me quickly check the wattage of this. So this is a max 20 watt charger
1:16
So it's an ok charger I guess. Drop it in and that's about it
1:21
Nothing more in here. So just gather that so it doesn't trash my desk here
1:29
And move to the phone. Let me quickly get it here. So that's the phone itself
1:39
Now I'm gonna quickly peel that off. There we go. And... I already went through the setup of it so this is more for a show
1:57
So let's unlock it. And... There we go. So this is the massive 6.7 inch display
2:06
With a resolution of 1080p by 2520. It comes around to be 84.3% screen to body ratio
2:15
So fairly minimal bezels honestly. And it has 409 pixels per inch
2:22
That's because of the 1080p resolution. It does look really crisp. Although the brightness of it isn't getting really high
2:32
This is maxed out right now. And kind of like probably majority of the IPS displays
2:39
It ain't getting any brighter than that. So keep that in mind
2:44
Now the key I guess part of this display that is really nice
2:48
It's the fact that it actually runs at 90Hz. So it is not the typical slow 60Hz display
2:55
It is actually just bumped up and a mid-range device. So highly appreciate that fact here
3:02
I really like the fact that all just a mid-range phones are getting a 60 or not 60 but 90 and even above refresh rate
3:12
So I really like that. And then it has an HDR10. Now that ain't gonna be anything special
3:21
It's not even HDR10+. And this is an IPS LCD display. So do not expect anything outstanding here in terms of the HDR
3:34
So yeah. And also as you can see. At the front we got two cameras
3:39
So there is a 16MP and 8MP sensor. Now the 16 has a wide sensor while 8MP is an ultra wide
3:47
So you have quite a range of capturing selfie. And just like front facing camera action
3:55
And when it comes down to recording. It does record at 1080p30
4:03
And also at the back if I flip it over. We have the 48MP main sensor
4:12
Then we got an 8MP ultra wide, 5MP macro and 2MP depth
4:18
And in terms of shooting video it shoots at 4K30 or 1080p30 and 16
4:24
So fairly nice for a budget device honestly. Or mid-range I should say
4:29
Now while we are talking about cameras. Let's just capture couple photos here
4:34
So I'm gonna get my prized position here. There we go. And let's launch the camera
4:41
And see how it will do. So not sure if there is a way to select
4:49
Oh it actually does automatically select to macro. So let's start off with a macro which is apparently a 5MP sensor
5:05
So it is ok-ish I would say. I'm not necessarily blown away here with the macro capability
5:19
Let's try it again, maybe it was just a bad shot. I'm not a photographer so just keep that in mind
5:28
So it does, I would say, mediocre job at the macro. Now I'm gonna bring my phone just as a comparison
5:37
I want to see just how much of a difference this will be. Now this is my beat up Mate 20 Pro
5:45
And quickly just see how it compares. If I can actually get the light
5:58
This seems to be really challenging to get actually. So let's see how that came out here
6:08
I mean obviously this is way higher resolution. I actually don't remember what the macro here is so can't really say
6:18
But obviously it's just better. This one seems to be doing a kind of poor job
6:24
And something tells me that if I go with the 48MP sensor it's just gonna zoom in closer and have higher quality than the macro
6:32
So let me quickly try that. And stop switching to the macro
6:37
That would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to grab the focus here but the moment I grab the focus it then switches to macro for some reason
6:58
So this is really getting annoying. Now this is again macro. Apparently
7:20
Or no it wasn't actually macro my bad. It pops up with the option for me to switch to macro so that's a little bit misguiding
7:30
So basically as I thought if you capture just a 48MP normal photo it can zoom in way closer and do a better job than the macro lens itself
7:42
So saying that this phone has 4 lenses is kind of a lie if one of them is just useless in my opinion
7:55
Now let's bring up the figure here and see how it does normally with it
8:05
Let's also go for the macro again and see if this will change anything
8:11
Let's see here. This actually might look a little bit better. We'll see
8:25
So there we go there is the macro. And it did come out better than I guess that toilet paper there
8:36
So let's go back to it. So this is a normal shot
8:46
As you can see it's out of focus at the front so that's just my bad
8:50
But honestly below that it actually kept it really nice so I'm surprised with this one
8:55
Some of the budget devices or like mid-range struggle with the shadows in the darker areas
9:00
While here you can clearly see what's under here. I just didn't capture it very well with the lack of actual focus right here
9:12
But you can see the focus on the leg part and just overly everywhere else
9:17
So this is an okay photo here. So honestly it isn't doing too bad of a job
9:22
I guess just the first idea of bringing the price position was not of the greatest one
9:29
Probably because everything here is white almost. Now also I guess we can check out how the selfie one does with my face here
9:39
So it's looking really well actually. So not really what I wanted to do but let's open the photo gallery and see how those came out
10:13
Once I can actually find it. So it does do the flip thing which is really disorienting actually
10:22
So this came out fairly good I would say
10:32
Better than I would expect. It's still lacking a little bit of quality
10:38
That could be because as you've seen in the background this is kind of a dark area
10:44
So I have to say it looked okay. Now moving on to the specs of the device and out of the camera territory
10:54
This device comes with a Snapdragon 765. So a mid-range chipset. It has two different options of storage and also RAM
11:05
So if you go for the 64GB storage you get 4GB of RAM
11:09
And if you go for the 128GB storage you get 6GB of RAM
11:16
And that is also expandable via the SD card so you can expand it even further if you want to
11:21
Assuming you're not going to be using two SIM cards. Because one of the SD card slots also doubles as a SIM tray if you wanted to
11:30
And it does have a fairly huge battery of 5000mAh. And it comes with, like I said before, a 20W charger
11:39
And now, just for the final, the price of it is 300
11:44
So honestly for that price it seems like a fairly nice device. Especially with that 90Hz display
11:50
I do have to say that that is a really nice touch. And the device just looks nice. It does have a nice feel to it
11:57
Runs really well. And I'm in a way kind of surprised by this
12:04
I was expecting it to be a little bit worse. There are certain things that I'm not necessarily fond of
12:12
I personally would for instance like to see a fingerprint instead of on the side on the power key
12:16
As you see right here. Hopefully you can get to see. There we go. If I move the camera
12:22
Or the light. So there is the fingerprint. It's basically a combo of power key and finger
12:29
I would probably like to see it under the display instead of on the side
12:34
I've kind of, maybe that's just me, but I'm kind of used to just pressing my finger to the display
12:40
And then automatically it having been unlocked and just being able to automatically continue from there
12:45
Instead of kind of like trying to press here and then go to a display
12:49
Now it seems like maybe a trivial problem for me or for you
12:53
But it's just kind of what I'm used to. So that's what I'm kind of getting at here
12:59
Now also those two cameras right here are... I don't really... Maybe I'm not necessarily recording TikToks or anything like that
13:09
So cameras aren't important to me honestly. I would probably live without any kind of difference if my phone came out without any front facing cameras
13:19
I would probably not see any problem with that. And go with my normal life without even noticing it honestly
13:28
So two cameras on here are in my opinion a little bit of an overkill
13:32
It's more like a look at me I'm flexing. I got two cameras. Because one isn't enough
13:37
Even though both of them aren't necessarily the most amazing cameras. So it's more to rack up the count of cameras in overall
13:44
Because we have four cameras on the back. Which one of them we already know it's useless
13:49
And then we got two cameras in the front which we don't need two of them
13:54
You could have placed one better one and call it a day. And then basically do switching of like how much it crops in or zooms in
14:03
That would have solved the problem and you would actually have a better camera
14:07
But this is more of a just race to however many cameras you can jam onto the phone
14:13
So I'm personally not a fan of these kind of marketing tactics
14:18
And as you clearly seen the photos there. You could well certainly see that the 48 megapixel capture is way more detailed
14:26
And overall photos look way better than they do from for instance something like a macro lens here
14:31
That is a puny 5 megapixels. So if they could have for instance removed that camera
14:38
Reduce the cost or put it into something else. That would have been a nice touch here
14:44
And apart from that you get to see already the device. It does have a headphone jack which is kind of a rare thing to see in 2020
14:54
And also as you can see it does come with this case. It's a fairly flimsy case but it looks okay
15:02
It's really nice that they included that for free. So thumbs up for that
15:07
And it comes pre-applied already when you take out the phone out of the box
15:13
So it's already on as you've seen here throughout the unboxing. And the phone itself has a nice little effect on it
15:21
I'm not sure if you can see that well on the camera. But it has this weird texture to it
15:27
I mean the plastic back of it is just smooth plastic. But it has this weird texture to it in terms of how it looks like
15:36
And apart from that as you can see you have an aluminium frame, plastic back and front glass
15:45
So that's about it. And fairly minimal bezels around with the speaker grill right in the bezel
15:53
It's a fairly minimal, barely visible one. Then at the bottom like I said we have the headphone jack
16:00
And also type C charging port along with some writing on it. Which is a weird placement for this
16:06
But honestly I do have to say I like the placement of these markings
16:11
Instead of having them on the back like we're used to having it for instance right here
16:16
This is underneath and it's all barely visible. So it makes the back of the device actually nice and clean
16:26
I kind of like that honestly. And then as you've already seen on the right side we have the volume rockers, power key and that's about it
16:34
And then on the left side we get a SIM tray along with the SD tray
16:38
And this is a Google button. I believe it probably is remappable so you can map it to do something else
16:46
But by default this will launch Google as you will see. So yeah, there we go
16:53
And at the top we just got a microphone hole here. And at the bottom, oh we already went over the bottom so yeah
17:03
So honestly it's a fairly nice device. I'm just going to leave it at the back so you can get a best look at it
17:13
And also I'll add a little bit of a note here. The bump for the cameras is fairly minimal
17:21
So this super thin case, as you can see this is a really thin case, does cover the entire bump
17:31
So if you put it on, your camera won't be actually protruding past it
17:36
Hopefully you can see it clearly. So yeah, that's really nice I have to say
17:44
But yeah, this would conclude the overview of the device. And at this date I feel like this device is fairly good for the price that it comes in
17:55
So if you're looking for a decent mid-range device, I feel like I can recommend this device for you
18:03
