Welcome
0:06
In front of me is an LGK30 from 2019. And today I will show you a couple of tweaks and tricks that you can do on this device
0:16
So we're going to begin with a simple one which will allow you to have an app drawer so you don't have all your icons smack in the middle of your home screen kind of like an Android, I mean like an Applewood
0:26
So to get this going you want to go into the settings and then on the
0:29
the display go into home screen and then select home and you have a couple options here
0:41
You have the normal home which is well the Apple-esque kind of looking one
0:46
Then you have the Home Plus Updrawer which will allow you to have an Updraw kind of like an
0:50
image shows you here that you basically tap on and brings you up all the apps and you can remove
0:55
them from your home screen so they don't clutter it up. And then you have also another one, which is more catered to an elderly people, which basically makes everything big and easy to access like gigantic funds and gigantic icons
1:13
So yeah, so that's the easy mode. Now choose whichever one suits you
1:18
I'm going to, as an example, choose the home plus updrawer and tap on OK
1:22
Give it a moment for it to actually reboot. And there we go. And that's basically how it looks like
1:28
So you pull up and you will have the up drawer like so
1:33
And as you can see automatically it removes the second page where there were like several folders
1:38
So that's nice. And that's about it. Now the thing that I'm curious is, okay, so you cannot remove the icon here even though you can just pull out the up drawer from the bottom by sliding up
1:52
But it's still a nice way of cleaning up your display. Now another thing that I'm going to go to is the gesture system
2:00
Now this gesture system isn't necessarily the best one, but if you're sick of the standard buttons that, well, you are used to for the past decade
2:13
and this is a nice way to switch it up. So also to change it, go onto the display and then home touch buttons
2:20
and from here you'll have the buttons only or the gestures and buttons
2:24
and basically it brings up the, I think it was introduced in Android 9, the button with like a buck option
2:33
So the way this works is you tap on it, you go home. You hold it it brings up the Google Assistant as you just seen And you slide it up it brings up recent And if you want to go back you have the bug arrow Now another thing that is nice about it is when you have the recent
2:49
you can actually slide back and forth once you bring up the recent, you will see that the button
2:57
is still here. You can just grab it and slide it like back and forth and it basically cycles through
3:02
all the apps. So a nice and quick way for you to switch in between different apps
3:08
So moving on we're going to go into a split-screen feature which might not
3:14
probably work the best on this device considering it's fairly limited and its power
3:20
but still will allow you to for instance listen to music on YouTube while doing
3:25
other stuff. So to get it going we're going to open up YouTube and probably I
3:30
should connect to network before I do this otherwise there's nothing really show it can show so let me
3:38
Let's turn that on and okay. I'm going to connect to some Wi-Fi
3:52
Okay, there we go. Now I'm connected. So I can go back. There we go
4:08
Also going to mute the sound so it's not going to be coming when I
4:27
tap on a video okay so once you have a YouTube open and to go into the
4:34
recent and there's two things to keep in mind Whichever app you first start in split screen, it will be the app that goes on top
4:43
while the second one that you open is going to go on the bottom. So if you want to keep YouTube on top, which probably, in my opinion, is the best way to do it
4:51
you want to open it up first. So you'll see that there's a two bar right here
4:57
So top on that. Just tap on next and done. And you can see that it's right now up here
5:07
Now I think it went to home screen only because of the message, but normally you would have either the recent or just the way to open up additional app
5:17
This will be only visible if you press on home screen, I mean on the home button. So from here you want to open up any kind of other app that you wish to multitask with So for instance I going to open up Chrome and resize this And let just turn something on that doesn look like complete cringe
5:38
Whatever. Okay
5:48
So you can see that the video is playing while I'm using now. Google. So I can start typing. Now whenever keyboard comes up it kind of messes up the layout of it as you see
6:02
it pushes it up. But if once you close it up it goes back down. So keep that in mind and also you can
6:10
go home while the video will still be playing as you will see some movement there and I can
6:15
normally use majority of the advice. There is also one thing to keep in mind apart from
6:21
everything, there are some apps that may not be capable of doing split screen
6:28
For instance, camera, I'm pretty sure, will close it. So any app that is in split screen at this moment when you open up camera, it will just
6:35
quit it all together. So let's just put it. You can see that, boom, it's just gone
6:41
So you would have to reopen the split screen again if you want to get it back
6:47
So there's several apps, most certainly, that don't work. I know for a fact that that camera doesn't and yeah
6:56
So I guess test it around to see what doesn't or does work
7:03
And other thing that I want to show is, for instance, when you're a Spotify user
7:08
you normally probably clean your clean all. And while doing so, you close your Spotify music stops, right
7:17
So there is a way for you to actually prevent that. So let's assume that YouTube is Spotify, just as a hypothetical situation, so I don't have to download the app
7:26
But next to the split screen option and the X, you have a little thumb tag, which you can tap on
7:33
It then becomes blue and it's activated. And now if we tap on Clear All, you can see that YouTube stays
7:40
So if you have like massive mess of apps and you don't really pay attention that you're clearing all the apps
7:45
and for instance, Spotify is one of them that you're a little
7:49
listening to, you will close it and it stops the music. But if you have that enabled, it will keep it open as it will stay basically open because
7:59
of that pin right there. Now you can still close it yourself by just dragging it up hopefully apparently not So you actually have to unpin it And certain other devices you can actually still close it manually as long as you want to but the moment you open it up it goes back to pinned
8:17
But yeah, that is a nice feature just to keep stuff a little bit more like organized in a way
8:24
So you have just for simplicity, I guess. And the last thing that I want to show is the animations
8:32
So like I said, this device isn't the most powerful. In the system here, in my opinion, sometimes can't handle the animation
8:39
So you can either shorten them so they are shorter and, well, I guess it would look better or also feel faster
8:46
considering you would be accessing whatever that is that you're trying to open that much faster, depending on what you choose it
8:52
Or you can just completely disable the animation and then you won't see any kind of laggy animation
8:58
They just won't be there at all. But to enable it, you want to go into the general in settings and then about phone
9:05
software information and where you see the build number tap on it seven times you'll get you
9:13
are now a developer message at the bottom right here you can go back to the main page of general
9:20
and you'll find a new option that has appeared developer options once you tap on it well just
9:26
top on okay you will have access to all the developer options and and here you should find
9:35
window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animation duration scale. Now each one of those corresponds to a different kind of animation
9:43
For instance, window animation scale will be the window that will appear once I tap on it
9:48
so I have an option of choosing the speed. So this is the window
9:53
And as you can see all of them are set to one at the as default
9:57
So you can set it to half speed, which will be basically twice as fast
10:00
or I can completely turn it off and now there won't be any animation up
10:05
But as you probably see, there is a little bit of a jarring kind of appearance
10:10
It kind of like flickers almost because of the fact that there is no animation
10:16
But you could set it to all of them to half speed at least. And now everything will be way faster than less previously as you see
10:26
Now you also can set it to completely off. And now you will see that there is basically no animation
10:35
I just all pop in. So yeah. Now if you found any of these weeks and tricks helpful
