Welcome, I'm fromphant a HTC Desire 20 Pro and today I'll go
0:11
unboxing along with a brief overview of the device. So let's pop it open and see what we get inside the box apart from the phone itself
0:19
So we got a cardboard box, nothing in here. Then the phone itself, I'm going to set it to the side for now
0:30
and here we get some stickers whatever, SIM eject tool, paperwork, headphones
0:43
kind of look like earbuds from Apple, but just a different color
0:50
Then we got a Type C cable from Type A and a charger which is
0:58
18 watts max so not the faster charger out there I just get rid of this now and move to the phone itself
1:11
so the phone that I have in front of me is the annex black color and there is another one which I actually don't know the name to it so sorry for that
1:27
And as you can see the Pang is already set up just to speed up the process here
1:33
It smacks out the brightness even though it's not that much. So the specifications of the device started in off with the display
1:43
it's a 6.5 inch display, 1080p panel, more precisely 1080 by 20340
1:48
with a 83.1% screen to body ratio and 396 pixels per inch on an LC
1:57
the iPS display. So honestly, the specs aren't necessarily mind-blowing here for the display
2:04
They're kind of what you would expect from basically any device in 2020 now
2:10
Now, in my opinion, it is missing a little bit of a faster refresh rate, but I guess I will live with that one
2:19
Then moving on on the front, apart from the display, you also have the selfie camera
2:23
which is a 25 megapixel white sensor that shoots up 1080. 30 frames and then on the back if we flip it over and just unlock the device
2:31
we go if we flip it over you have another four sensors so the main shooter
2:36
is a fully 8 megapixel white sensor then we get an 8 megapixel ultra wide 2 megapixel
2:41
macro and 2 megapixel depth and again all that equates to shooting at 4k 30
2:49
and an 80p 30 which is kind of a shame but also furthermore see how well it
2:55
does the job So let actually whip out the plant here and see how well it can capture So now this test won be anything special here I just going to capture a couple mediocre photos as I always do
3:15
and see how well it comes out in terms of colors and also quality
3:22
So it does have a macro, let's see if it switches automatically. It looks like it does not
3:29
So now I'll have to figure out how to change it to. to the other one
3:37
Okay, there we go, macro. So let's start with the 2 megapixel macro
3:44
So as you can see, this is how it comes out
3:59
it actually does it fairly well. I did capture a little bit more sharpness in the back
4:07
but still it's actually not bad. It's still not necessarily mind-blowing here
4:16
So this is an example. You know what? I'm going to bring my phone and see how well that does
4:23
just as a test. Personally, I'm personally, I'm not exactly sure what my macro lens is here
4:51
Okay, so you can clearly see the difference here. And so you can clearly see the difference here
4:58
This is a actual good micro lens here and this is the comparison to it
5:05
So, not sure how well you can see it maybe if I bring it in closer
5:11
So there is an absurd amount of quality in this one. This just looks like a blurry mess now
5:17
If you're not going to be comparing it to a, I guess, two, two and a half year old flagship
5:21
then it might be okay. If you're planning to, well then kind of pictures fall apart
5:28
But then, as we already seen, this is a 2 megapixel macro lens
5:32
which honestly feels like they added it in more for just the purpose of saying
5:37
that it has quad camera set up rather than actually being useless, or useful I mean
5:43
Now, I also have a theory that if we capture this same photo with just a normal lens
5:50
it will probably be more detailed than this one. So let's see how that kind of comes out
5:58
Now if my hand wouldn't be shaking, that would be nice. Okay
6:08
Hopefully And yeah like I thought And so I mean I was a little bit too close so you have to go a little bit further back but as you can see there is way more quality in the back area where it actually
6:24
called the caught focus rather than the front that's just my bed but you can see it clearly right
6:31
here this is way better than the macro lens by un assisting margin so this lens if if you're buying
6:39
this with the camera. It doesn't have a quad camera setup. It has at least one
6:45
useless sensor that isn't very good at anything. So you can clearly see that the
6:51
normal 48 megapixel white sensor, the main shooter, does a better job at macro
6:56
shooting than the dedicated macro lens. So we were, I mean I already seen this
7:01
before with the, what is it, the one plus Nord. They did the same thing. They also
7:07
at the depth sensor as well which did basically nothing along with a micro that also did nothing
7:13
and it looks like the trend here is the exact same thing so apart from that let's actually see the
7:20
selfie now i'm going to be the candidate here and my completely messy hair um so let's see how that
7:27
comes out and by god is there all that comes out and by god is there all
7:37
lot of face smooting. I look like a teenager here. So there is zero detail in the
7:44
face. Now let's see if actually I can get it off some face smoothing
7:53
Oops, I didn't want to leave. Okay, so this is going to be a little bit better
8:18
Let's see how that came out. It's still a blurry mess, but a little bit better
8:30
So as you can see, the chemas are necessarily anything special here
8:36
They're actually quite disappointing. So not that we get that out of the way
8:42
we can move into the specifications of the device, which also aren't anything mind-blowing here
8:48
So we got a snapdrag in 665 with 6 gigabytes of RAM
8:52
and 128 built-in storage, plus expendable via the SD card. So sounds all good
8:59
RAM is okay. Storage is also okay. The processor for the device is, well, mediocre at best
9:06
The battery is also fine. It's a 5,000 million power battery, but the charging is, like I said before, 18 watts
9:13
So not the best charging here I not going to lie And so this is probably one of those devices that we have to leave overnight to charge although the battery should last you a decent amount of time primarily because the specifications of the device aren necessarily anything mind
9:33
And apart from that, probably the last thing to mention is the price of the device
9:37
which in my opinion is way too overpriced. It costs $300. Now, for $300, just to put that in perspective
9:47
You can get, I guess, a better phone, significantly better phone, something like a RealMeX50 that comes already with 5G capability
9:59
has 120 Hz refresh rate of display, and definitely faster processor, and basically everything that you have here plus more
10:10
Also, the cameras will be better. I have done the test with the device not too long ago
10:15
so you can also look that up if you're interested, it to see. And the price is actually about $50 less, I think, something around those lines
10:22
So not only is it cheaper, it's faster, shoots better photos, and it's just in general better
10:28
and everything that this device tries to accomplish. So I'm not really sure why you would want
10:38
to go for this device. Like I said, it isn't doing anything really good. The price is marked up
10:45
a little bit too high. If it falls down and priced by about a third to like $200, then sure
10:52
I can recommend you. But other than that, even at $2.50, still you have the RealMe that is a better
11:00
choice or even the Xiaomi-Ratmy Note 9S, which is basically the same as the RealMeX50 in terms
11:08
of specifications, which means that it's going to be better than this device. So those are two
11:15
way better alternatives to this device that come at a cheaper price
11:21
And if this device falls down to the same price as those two other ones
11:26
well, it's still I would tell you to go for a different device because, number one, I doubt that it's going to fall a third of the price
11:33
And even if it does, it's still going to be worse than the two other devices
11:40
So honestly, I'm not sure who's this device being marketed to. HDC isn't necessarily the king
11:46
that it used to be but they most certainly keep the price up
11:50
like they think that they are so yeah I don't really know what to tell you probably
11:57
the primary thing is try to stay away from this device I don't think it's worth the money
12:03
at any kind of way and yeah so this would I guess conclude the overview
12:11
of the device and wasn't necessarily the most glamorous one but if you found the video helpful don't forget to hit like subscribe and thanks for watching
