In front of me is a Redmi 980 and today I will show you how to hard reset the device

through recovery mode and also in the process remove your screen lock if you have one that

you don't know. As you can see I do have a pattern set and I'm going to progress from here as though

I don't actually know it. So let's hold the power key and select power off

And once the device turns off you want to hold power key and volume up at the same time

and you want to hold them for about like 3 seconds or 4 depending, I'm not exactly sure

but I'm going to hold it and let go of the power key but keep holding volume up

Now if you can do it quick enough once you see the Redmi logo you can do it at that moment

That looks like it didn't do anything so I'm going to try again. Okay, so it is indicated by the vibration actually so keep holding power key and volume

up till you feel the vibration at which point you will let go of the power key but keep holding volume up till you see this screen right here

And from here we will need to use volume keys to navigate so you want to use volume down

to scroll down and in order to select wipe data confirm it with power key then confirm

that with power key once more so wipe all data and let's confirm

So begin, it only gets to like 5% or even 2 and gives you that data wipe successful

So now the device will be rebooting and also in the background it's going to continue the

process of factory resetting itself. So it will take a little bit longer but once it's finished it will then be presented with
