Welcome
0:06
And finally, I have a Motorola Razor 5G. So this is the new updated version that came out in 2020
0:15
And apart from it taking out a little bit of a while to get here
0:19
can now finally get into the unboxing along with an overview. So once more, we presented with this one of the best-looking packaging I have seen in
0:29
well ever basically so the casing here is just top quality as you can see it's set
0:36
up to the side so inside here we have some phone to protect the display as you can see right over here
0:42
on the top plastic Motorola logo along with this this foil on it and then on the other side we have
0:50
the razor 5g that's because well it's 5g obviously then in here some marking again more
0:59
logos but who cares about the case really so moving on we get the phone itself in
1:06
here as you can see so I'm just gonna take it out now I'm gonna set it to the
1:12
side for now on this stand and move further to the box so one thing that I find
1:19
really nice the accessories are in this nice pouch right here so this is again one
1:27
all these more premium looking packaging. And here we have all paperwork along with a charger
1:34
I know unfortunately this charge is fairly weak from what I've seen
1:38
It's 18 watts right here. So again, not much power out of it
1:46
But we also have the cable. So actually these are the headphones, which I type C
1:51
Headphones along with these rubber wingtips and a really nice braided cable
1:56
I believe in the previous version we also had a braided type C cable but this is not the case here
2:02
so yeah I'm closing this off I really like this pouch actually it just feels super premium
2:09
we can go back to the actual case or on the box however you want to call it and one thing that
2:17
probably you haven't noticed is the actual casing for this phone how it sits it's also a
2:26
kind of like a chamber for a speaker. So you can see there are like grill grill holes right on the size right here. And this is so when you're playing the
2:34
music the sound will basically be distributed a little bit better so everything
2:38
from the device will sound a little bit better. It's kind of like a dock for the
2:42
phone in a very cheap design but still if you're planning to listen to music or
2:50
something like that this will help so you can just slap your phone into this. It won't be charging but the sound that will be
2:56
leaving off will be better. So moving out of the box itself, we can now get to the
3:02
phone which is a little bit wobbly here. Let me zoom in a little bit here
3:08
There we go. So I already did turn on the device so we don't have to. I'm going to go
3:20
to a quick setup so bear with me while I basically skipped through most of this
3:26
Now obviously as you can see the front display or well however you want to call it front or inside not really sure
3:36
this is a what they call a P-O-Lid foldable display with a resolution of
3:44
876 by 2142 so not the most highest resolution here
3:55
here that you can get but honestly I don't really see any pixels and it is
4:01
equivalent of a 1080p display honestly especially with the 3703 pixels per inch
4:08
it basically approaches the 1080p resolution of majority of the devices now
4:17
it is a little bit lacking but I'm pretty sure you're not going to see much of a
4:22
difference between like 30 pixels per per inch so yeah now also I'm not sure if I mentioned the device has a 6.2 inch display
4:33
that's this one along with a 2.7 inch display when you close it so right over here
4:40
which you can clearly see now it looks like again the so yeah it looks like the usability this display is still Amitted Oh never mind
5:03
So actually, this isn't too bad. It gives me quick guide, whatever, I don't really care
5:19
There we go. For some reason the gloves along with the sticker on here isn't necessarily too responsive
5:29
Even to the sticker is applied a little bit incorrectly, not sure if you can see it
5:34
It goes all the way down to the camera even though the screen starts right here and the sticker starts basically on the minute, almost about a fourth of the way onto the screen
5:45
So a little bit poor control here of how you protect your device or all the stickers
5:57
So apart from that, let's pop it open and look at some changes that were made between the two devices now
6:05
Previously, with the Motorola Razor, the first one that came out in 2019, which is a year ago
6:11
I was fairly critical. It, in my opinion, was a poor device, not really poor, I'm not really sure how to explain it
6:19
It was an expensive device with not much there that can be justified for the 1500 euro price tag that came with it
6:27
Now, this phone has the same price tag, but everything inside it here was upgraded
6:32
Now, unfortunately, I am thought to say that the process that comes with this device is still mid-range
6:39
it comes to a snapdrag in 765G, obviously making it 5G, but not making it a flagship processor spec here
6:47
So that's still a shame. But apart from that, things like the storage were upgraded to basically being doubled
6:54
The battery is bigger, the usability of the, for instance, the tiny display, the 2.7 has been improved
7:03
And also going back to that from display, which I haven't mentioned, the resolution of it is a 6.5
7:09
600 by 800 pixels. So basically the resolutions of both of the displays were basically the same. They haven't changed one bit. The design of the device changed a bit. So if you have held the previous one, it had more of a squareish finish right here. I didn't have this kind of like nice finish right here. And that was because they had a fingerprint right in here
7:39
So I believe that was to accommodate the space for that fingerprint sensor
7:43
And now they moved for the fingerprint to the back. So you have it right over here in that logo
7:49
So it is better positioned in my opinion. It might be a little bit low for a majority of us
7:55
so you do have to hold the phone kind of like this to have it comfortably
8:00
So that feels a little bit weird, so then you have to reposition. But honestly, I rather have a more modern look of the device
8:09
itself and have the fingerprint sensor on the back rather than the front under like a
8:13
almost like a button so that felt really weird before. Now obviously the
8:19
hinging and the build of the device and majority of it is still the same so we do
8:27
have a plastic screen at the front because it's foldable obviously the same
8:31
resolution as previously on the previous versions. Now we do have a then
8:38
glass front right here and back these are all girlaglass 5 the frame is
8:44
aluminium and the hinge is made out of stainless steel so apart from that the
8:51
phone still has this foldable mechanism as you can see when you start folding
8:55
the device it does create this weird kind of like cave here where you can see a
9:01
little bit under the hinges or the casing of it which will allow debris to get in
9:07
here especially when it's folded and the seal right here isn't it's not really sealing
9:13
the device fully in any way so some some debris might get in here and then also
9:19
under the display which is a little bit of a shame also the device still isn't
9:25
necessarily waterproof nor is it advised to be taken anywhere near the beach where
9:30
you have sand or any kind of small debris so keep that in mind if you're planning
9:34
to go, like, I don't know, beach, water anywhere, do not take this phone with you
9:41
This is like a disaster waiting to happen And I don mean in terms of even damage if any kind of sand or anything gets in here you will have this oh unwieldy
9:54
screeching noise whenever you open it up, and the sand is just grinding on the hinges
9:59
It is so disgusting that I do not want to hear that
10:03
So, yeah. I'm moving outside of the hinge itself. The device itself runs fine
10:12
Like I said, it uses a Snapdragon 765G, which may not be flagship, but at least we're joining the 5G party
10:20
And for $1,500, comparing to the old one, same price tag. At least you have 5G now, which previous one could have had also 5G, but for some reason they opted out of it
10:32
So at least this time around, like I said, this is a better upgrade
10:37
So for the same price, you're getting, well, a significantly better connectivity
10:42
with a faster processor than previously. And previously we had a Snapdragon 710
10:48
And like I also mentioned, the device has a 256 gigabyte built-in storage, along with
10:54
upgraded RAM to 8 gigabytes. Previously it was at 6. And also
10:59
there is still no SD card expansion, so you're only limited to a
11:05
SIM card, which previously I believe you didn't even have a space for the SIM card
11:10
I think it was all based on an e-sim, but I might be wrong, I don't remember exactly
11:17
And also the cameras have been upgraded here as well. So at the front, or middle, I'm not really sure again how to call it
11:26
The one that is basically once you unfold it, a selfie cam in a way. This is a 20 megapixel white sensor that shoots at 1080p at 30 and 60 frames
11:36
And at the back or front, basically when you have it closed, the only camera visible
11:41
So now get upgraded from 16 to 48 megapixels. So a huge bump-up and pixel count here
11:49
And it comes with a PDAF and OIS, so the optical MS stabilization and the other autofocus
12:00
So with that, you can shoot also at 4K-30, sadly no 60
12:06
But at 1080p, you can shoot again at 30 and 60 frames. a slow motion of 120 frames
12:15
And also because we have the screen right here, you can basically use this camera as a selfie camera
12:20
making the other one that is inside kind of redundant. So as you already seen, if you unlock the device
12:30
let's just get rid of this, however you do it. Okay, this is kind of hard to do
12:41
I'm not really sure why I can't unlock it. There we go, not worked
12:54
So I believe this was this way, there we go. So as you can see, I launch as a camera and this is a, like I said, a 48 megapixel white sensor
13:07
So you're basically getting a... full-fledged selfie camera that is using the back sensor
13:17
Also if you open it up it will continue whatever you were doing apparently but it
13:22
sticks with this camera the front one which if I were using it as a selfie I would
13:27
expect it to launch then a selfie which is a little bit off but whatever
13:32
So yeah apart from that you get fairly stock Android with the Moto app as you can see
13:38
which only adds a little bit more usability to the device, so we have things like that gestures right here
13:45
along with several of their other shortcuts and just overall usability features
13:51
which you can completely opt out of, and I wouldn't consider that as a bloatware
13:56
And apart from that, the phone is fairly stuck. As you can see, it basically has almost no bloatware
14:05
I'm not really sure what the Astro Odyssey is here. so that comes preloaded
14:09
It looks like a game. Okay. So it looks like it's a..
14:22
It looks like it is... Let me close this off. It looks like it's a little Google Chrome
14:30
little dinosaur game, but just made on Motorola with a little bit different aesthetic which is kind of funny But moving out I believe there is also this interesting mode in the previous one which allowed you to stop it there we go
14:49
which allowed you to basically turn the device into retro mode to resemble the old Motorola
14:56
And yep, there it is. Just drag it over and have a look at that one
15:07
There we go. As you can see it turns it into this retro mode
15:14
Now previously it was fairly limited and now I'm not sure if it still retained that
15:18
Let's kind of see it. So if you would open up any kind of up, yep it still launches the normal one
15:27
Let's see what else we got. So it's just kind of like a novelty thing
15:44
if you want to mess around with this but it opens up everything that was previously stock
15:48
and if you open up anything it just opens up the stock application
15:54
But yeah, kind of concluding this, the build quality here is fairly similar
15:59
to what it was before. With a side note, I have no idea how the device will stand
16:05
instant durability test nowadays. The previous one was fairly trash honestly and just from using
16:13
it for like a couple weeks it started squeaking and making weird hint noises and overly from what
16:20
I've read online people were complaining about the device basically the screen breaking on them
16:24
after just a normal usability of it usage. I'm not sure if this is still the case here so I guess
16:31
only time will tell. But apart from that like I said everything
16:35
about this device was improved, the processor, the cameras, the only thing that I guess wasn't
16:43
improved was the display, which both of them are still exactly the same, but the usability
16:48
of the front one has been improved and increased, so you have more usability of it when
16:55
it's closed rather than how it was before with it just kind of being there and being almost
17:01
useless. And apart from that, at this moment, with the specification that this device comes in
17:09
price tag, I do have to say it's still overpriced for a device and the specs that it comes in
17:15
but it is easier now to recommend it than it was before with the previous Mirola. So if you really want
17:22
a foldable device with, for instance, 5G specifically, then this device does that does the
17:31
up the only other options you have are from Samsung which is the Z flip and the fold two and both of
17:40
those devices are I believe above 1500 euros basically fold two being at a thousand or two thousand
17:49
and Z flip I think being at like 1700 so this is going to be the cheapest I believe option
17:56
for a foldable device with 5G capability if you're looking for something like that
18:01
Now, I would still hold on and wait before purchasing this device just to see how the durability test and how people using it will report it on it
18:12
Because, who knows, maybe the device will still be breaking after just normal usage, just as the previous one was
18:18
So I'll really hold off from buying this, but wait until you have some kind of reviews from other people after using it for a little bit, a couple, for instance, months, maybe a month or two, and see if
18:30
the device is still working for them. But other than that, like I said, $1,500 seems a little bit overpriced
18:39
but you do have some other additional usability and better specs than you had before
18:45
which the device is a little bit easier to recommend now. And honestly, it feels really nice in hand
18:52
It does keep a super small footprint when you close it. It feels modern
18:56
It feels really nice. This is closer to what I would have expected from
19:00
basically a follow-up to a Razor series rather than the previous one
19:05
So I really like the device. Personally wouldn't buy it for myself, but I understand people that might want it
19:14
And yeah, I would just say it's a decent device at the moment
