Welcome. In front of me is a Redmi 12R and today I will show you a couple of tweaks and the tricks
0:05
you can do on this device. So to get started we're gonna begin by opening up our settings
0:13
application and from there we're gonna navigate to a display which contains the first thing which
0:19
is the dark mode. Now I already have it enabled so I'm gonna turn it off. I think the device might
0:24
look a little bit better at least on the recording and dark or light mode so that's what I'm gonna
0:29
stick with. But you can obviously toggle it on or off from here but below that you also have a
0:34
scheduled dark mode which allows you to select it so it either turns on automatically based on
0:39
sunset to sunrise or on a custom timer so you can change the times right here at which it will
0:44
switch between those. So it's a pretty neat option right here. Now moving a little bit further down
0:50
we have a refresh rate. We have it set to default but we also have a custom one so when you select
0:54
custom that gives you the drop down right here and you can switch between 60 or 90. Now to kind of
1:01
go over this and just give you the best option for you which might vary a bit dependent
1:08
on who is watching. If you prefer to prioritize a battery life only and you don't care about the
1:14
more choppy look of the display then select the 60 under custom. Now if you want to have basically
1:20
best of both worlds which is a little bit of a smoother motion while still having a little bit
1:27
of battery preservation then select the default. The reason I recommend for the high refresh rate
1:34
default instead of like selecting it right here to be 90 is because under default it will switch
1:39
between 60 and 90. So when you have an image like this which isn't moving whatsoever the device
1:45
automatically drops it to 60 to preserve a little bit of battery life. But the moment you start
1:50
scrolling up and down it will automatically switch it to 90 which is actually kind of from this there
1:55
we go. There we go now it's 90 and when I start moving it should be 60. Obviously once you
2:02
the moment you start scrolling it instantaneously switches to 90 to give you this nicer smoother
2:07
motion of scrolling up and down. Now continuing further we have control center and status bar
2:16
also under the display as a redirection right here at the very bottom and in here we have a
2:20
couple different things that might just make your device look a little bit cleaner. So we have things
2:24
like show notification icons which we can turn that off and it will just hide the notifications
2:28
that are visible right here or it will hide them from your status bar only. They will still be
2:33
obviously visible here. We have also show connection speed which I think might be turned off by default
2:39
and then below that we have show carrier when device is unlocked which I just prefer cleanest
2:45
look possible so that's what I'm going to select. And then we have edit carrier name. We have none
2:49
Obviously if you have a sim card you can have it display your carrier name or you can just turn it
2:54
off which gives you almost no benefit of having it visible so not exactly sure why it's even an option
3:03
And then we have battery indicator. So if you want to have a little bit more info about your battery
3:07
you can select for instance something like this one the middle one which gives you the battery
3:12
indicator along with the percentage of battery inside of it which is a pretty nice and clean
3:18
look in general while giving you the info that you might be interested in. Now moving further we can now back out and navigate to in the settings to the home screen and
3:29
here we have things like the home screen which allows you to switch between a couple different
3:34
modes. So we have classic, app drawer or a light mode. Light mode is basically the one designed for
3:40
elderly people with as you can see much bigger icons and less of them on your home screen
3:46
App drawer is just a typical android experience so if I go home you can just swipe up to gain
3:51
access to your entire app drawer. And the classic one which you can see right here is the aka
3:57
apple like mode with all your installed application on your home screen spanning
4:03
through several pages. So you can switch whichever to whichever one you prefer right over here
4:10
Now moving on to the last option it's going to be the gestures which we can find under additional
4:19
settings or gesture shortcuts more like and it's right here gesture shortcuts. Now we have several
4:25
different gestures that can pick from so we have things like launch google assistant which you do
4:29
by holding your power button for half a second but to be honest I don't like this so I like to
4:34
have that turned off. Below that we have a take screenshot with either three finger swipe down or
4:41
a power button and a volume up. This is the default one that functions on every device and
4:46
this is the more of like redmi exclusive but not only there's a couple other companies that do this
4:53
Now if you find that you for instance might be capturing screenshots sometimes randomly maybe
4:58
the device just recognize your normal swipe as a three finger swipe for some reason you can turn
5:05
it off in here if it just annoys you. Then we have things like turn on torch aka flashlight
5:12
for the normal people and we have double press the power button which I do like this one this is a
5:17
pretty nice option when enabled obviously you just press double press the power button and it launches
5:24
the flashlight which is really nice and a handy option to have enabled. Not exactly sure why
5:31
this is not enabled but whatever. And we have also launch camera which you can do whatever you want
5:41
Ah that's why I launched calculator we have double tap fingerprint sensor to launch calculator
5:47
Yeah I think I'll prefer to select none considering it also double press acts as double tap it looks
5:54
like so that's kind of conflicting with one another. But anyway with this being said hopefully
