Welcome
0:08
So today in front of me I have two different Samsung devices from, well, two decades apart from each other
0:16
And we'll take a look at, I guess, the progress of technology because there is nothing really to compare between those two
0:23
it's like comparing a bicycle to a Ferrari if a Ferrari was made out of cardboard
0:28
but yeah so we have the Z-fold here and an A-400 not exactly I don't exactly remember what it was
0:40
but both are Samsung devices and both of them surprisingly work but as you can see the
0:49
battery on this one is nearly dead and I can't seem to find the charger for it. So that's the first one and this is the Z-flip as you can
1:03
see so it's a fairly hefty phone. In terms of like normal devices it's close to the same
1:10
size almost as you can see this is just the Huawei Mate 20 Pro so really close to
1:20
the same size. The difference is doesn't have the around the corners as majority of the newer devices from
1:28
Samsung and the buzzes are barely hefty for 2020 honestly I mean these are now
1:36
kind of outdated the size of these so yeah now when it comes on to specifications
1:44
of the devices is no idea what this has it's so old that back then a processor
1:51
didn't really have any meaning and the key features of the device were things like clock or alarm clock or games
2:06
Keep in mind games meaning something so rudimentary that nowadays Java games would be considered a high quality game compared to what you could have on here
2:20
and it comes down to Java this thing didn't even support anything like that I don't think it even knew what Java is at that time
2:30
and when it comes down to the battery even though it's taking about a third of the device so this thing right here this entire part is a battery
2:39
even though it's taking a third of it it's only 650mmm and it only lasts for 70 hours of standby time and two and a half hours of
2:50
talk. So you won't be getting much of use from this device at all, which is kind of honestly weird
2:57
considering this device didn't really consume much power, I would assume. And smartphones, like super low
3:03
power smartphones could last a month at times, at least one that I had an amazing battery. So this is
3:11
surprisingly not as high durability in terms of battery as I would have expected. And then we have
3:19
right here on the right side fold which has 3,300 M.m.s battery
3:30
And all the specs that everybody likes to basically show off nowadays, along with the flexible display
3:37
that is the weakest part of the device in my opinion. Now, it's kind of cool that it flexes
3:44
but then it doesn't really add anything to it. I mean, your phone is smaller, but then it is also fatter
3:49
So you can't trade one thing for another and the downside of it is you can scratch this display with your fingernail
3:57
So it's not the most durable screen protection out there. And when it comes down, it's a 6.7 inch display with a resolution of 1080p by 2636
4:12
That is 86.5 or 82.5% screen to body ratio. so like I said these puzzles kind of cut out the 90 as some other devices have even some of them even go to like 92 So it not approaching really high screen ratio
4:34
And then when it comes onto cameras, at the front as you can see right here, you have two cameras
4:44
So they're both 12 megapixel. This has no megapixels. It doesn't take full
4:49
it doesn't take anything apart from a sim card so here you have the phone is dying
4:56
so you have the 12 megapixel wide and ultra wide sensor and they can do all that
5:02
gimmicky stuff like capture 4k out 60 frames 1080p at 240 if you like the slow
5:08
motion and if you like it even slower you can go to 720 at 960 frames so
5:14
you'll be getting quite a significant slowdown in terms of footage. And then you also have another camera inside right here
5:26
as you'll see, this little dot right there, that's a 10 megapixel camera that also captures footage
5:32
at 4K 60 frames. So that, I think at the moment only Samsung does the front camera
5:42
60 frames and at 4K on top of that. While majority of the other devices are still stuck
5:48
behind with 1080p at least, 30. I don't really see many 60 frame front facing cameras. Personally I don't really care for it
5:59
I don't almost ever use the front camera, so I don't really care. The back cameras, even though
6:05
they're 12 megapixel wide and ultra wide and capture videos at 4k at 60, I would consider
6:14
them to be taking pictures, mediocre pictures at best, they're nothing mind-blowing, they have fairly good zoom but then the pictures are
6:25
kind of blurry. So I'm not really sure what to think about it, considering this device
6:32
cost more than Samsung's new flagships that released roughly around the same time, the
6:39
S-20 pluses, ultras and all that, and all of those devices take ages better photos than this
6:48
this seems like a couple generations behind in terms of the photo quality and
6:54
honestly it feels like you're paying majority of the price for just the the fact that you can do
7:00
this have a foldable smartphone with a touch display that actually folds in half
7:09
which in my personal opinion this is not really anything to be excited about you take this phone to the beach
7:18
get a little bit of sand in there and you might as well just not come back with the device
7:22
because it will make these god-awful nail chatboard scratching noises that i would not want to have
7:30
that phone anymore um it would drive me insane every time i would have to open that phone up so
7:37
not the greatest fan of it and like i said the durability of it isn't necessarily the best
7:42
It could poke a basically destroy this display just with your fingernail
7:49
If you really wanted to press on there, it would just break
7:53
It would leave marks at like normal presses with your fingernail. And it would break
8:00
I'd like some... If something would, for instance, get it in between the display when it's closed
8:06
You don't really have much space between the display, as you can see
8:10
and well between the two displays when it's folded and if something gets in there well it's
8:18
either going to be scratched and like embedded something in there that it's going to be like the plastic
8:25
will just kind of scuffed or it might as well just kind of bust a pixel and from there it will also
8:33
start like spreading black crap all over so this device probably would
8:40
in the last two decades just as this one did. As you can see this one after well 19 years now still working still fully functioning although I can barely remember how to even use such a phone even though I had similar when I was similar kind of phones as I was a child
9:02
But I can see, it works fine. So yeah. Now, things that you don't get with this one
9:14
is a nice antenna band as you can see and the thickness of a break oh and one more
9:21
thing that you don't get is this headphone jack but you're gonna miss that one
9:28
then you also get some wonky charging port here which at least nowadays we all
9:34
decided to drop the the proprietary plugs for something more common so everybody
9:41
basically uses either type c charging port right now Now as you can see right, if I can get that in the light, that would be nice
9:50
As you can see Type C, and majority of the devices that come in 2020 and even 2019
9:55
already were using Type C. So at least that's nice. It was really annoying back in a day where you had to have the same brand of the device
10:04
to be able to charge using someone else's charger because everybody used a different one
10:10
Now there's still special snowflakes like Apple that just basically seem to
10:14
seems to not want to switch because we're going to be selling cables for 20 bucks a pop
10:20
and earn milk our Apple users just by that but majority of the other ones decided that it
10:31
will be a little bit better idea for everybody to have easy access to charging
10:37
now when you want to go back to the displays Here we have the super Amolet display, the Samsung Amelette basically with the super dark blocks that they basically don't even light up
10:55
So the pixels right around the flower or whatever that is are basically turned off
11:01
On here we'll get something very similar. Well, now the phone won't turn on either because it's completely dead
11:10
but in normal perspective it comes with one color which is cray and it has four shades of it all whole four shades of it
11:22
comparing it to the samson that comes with uh what was it 16 million colors so just a small jump and
11:29
color um so yeah the display like this one was using way less power but then you were only limited to
11:40
one color basically. But then also looking at the price This device I seen used before I started making this video
11:55
Someone on eBay was selling this specific one also the same color working one with a charge and everything for $20
12:04
This little thing here because it's foldable will cost you $1,300 or not even dollars, euros, so that's a little bit more
12:16
So for some reason, even though it's inferior device comparing to like the, even the galaxy's
12:26
S-20s, it costs way more. Or approximately the same I think as the S-20 Ultra
12:34
I think the prices might be really similar. Now apart from just the screen on the front we'll also get another, iony depending what you consider a front
12:45
Now you also have, when it's closed, you also have this little display. Now you kind of tap on it and it is semi-touch, very limited in terms of what it can do
12:54
It will show you notifications and you can kind of swipe through it kind of like a smart band
12:59
So it doesn't really give you much. It gives you notification info. So you can see that you have some Facebook and some other stuff
13:06
some download pose not really sure what that is about. And open phone to view details So as you can see you don really get to view too much on that display only
13:20
only base information that you'll have notification and and that's about it well apart from time
13:29
so in terms of the front display you basically can get as much as this little display right here
13:39
so yeah and also when it comes down to the this phone itself because I have no
13:48
idea what the press for this is and not like anybody cared at that time this one
13:53
comes with a snapdrag in 855 plus so top of the line so this will be ironically
14:03
this device is better than for instance something like yeah let me just bring
14:08
that to the view. I know that the video is not about this but we have here the
14:12
Motorola Razor from 2019. And as you can see as the device it doesn't actually
14:20
fold fully I think it's not necessarily the like super flat. It has a little bit of a
14:27
curve I think. Costs more because it costs $1,500 and it's worse than this
14:38
and also it breaks easier. And also, because it costs more, it also comes with a crappier processor
14:48
So this one, the razor comes with a snapdragon 7-10, and it costs more, because that makes sense
14:57
So not every device is made equally in terms of pricing. As you can see, the razor can cost more and be worse in every possible aspect than this
15:08
and this is in my opinion already not the best device. If I would be going for a foldable
15:13
I think I would prefer to cough up these 500 more and just go for the Galaxy Fold
15:19
which is, I would say, probably the best approach to the foldable device
15:25
The display is hidden inside, kind of like this one. And it's still prone to everything that this one is right here
15:34
so we can scratch it easily, and you can break it easily
15:38
But on top of having this display, when you close default you also have a normal fully functioning display on the front of the phone
15:48
That is not flexible and it's just covered with normal gorilla glass, so it's going to last way more than, for instance, this one
16:00
But apart from that, the foldable devices in most of the cases are very similar on how
16:08
I would say how overpriced they are and how much how delicate they are I would say
16:15
comparing to a brick like this one which lasted 20 years and the only downside is
16:24
you don't get to connect to Wi-Fi here you don't get all that Instagram and all
16:29
that stuff so if you want to go off grid this is the phone for you but if you plan
16:36
to join the modern society, I would still not go for this phone
16:44
But apart from the obvious differences in terms of what 20 years can do in terms of technology
16:53
which you can see, the phone is a phone. It still calls, it still sends messages
17:00
You only add more functionality to it and made it a little bit more
17:06
modern and better looking smaller, all that stuff. But yeah, I mean, I don't think there's anything more that I can say about the device that you just don't see
17:17
That's kind of a pointless video, but just a fun, a funny one to look in retrospect
17:23
So, yeah, if you found this video enjoyable, don't forget to hit a like button, subscribe, and thanks for watching
