Welcome. And follow me, I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Plus
0:06
And today I will go over unboxing along with a look at Samsung's new old device
0:18
So let's get straight into it. So this is a refreshed-budget version of their S-9 series that came out about a half a year ago
0:28
and it aims to obviously just try to capture a bit of a bigger audience
0:34
If the S-series didn't capture them, then hopefully the FE world with the more reasonably priced devices
0:42
Now that being said, I can already tell you that I already looked at the smaller FE version of this device
0:52
And it was cheaper, I like 500 euros, but it was nowhere near being a..
0:58
product that is worth the money. Hopefully, this one makes up for that while costing, let's see, oh, 700 euros, great, fantastic
1:09
And I can already tell you it is not going to be worth that much
1:14
Great job, Samson. You don't have up again. So, let's just get with the crapping on this device right off the get-to-go, so we don't waste any time
1:28
Great unboxing, fantastic. You just couldn't make it paper that actually doesn't like rip
1:34
It's a small nitpick, but it's an experience that counts. Some manufacturers make the experience good
1:41
when you're unpacking your brand new device that you spend 700 euros on. For instance, just to bring up as a funny little example
1:49
Motorola may not have the best phones, but every time you unpack their new phones
1:54
their boxes are scented and they smell freaking fantastic. Here you get crappy little paper that rips and just makes you kind of salty about unpacking this
2:04
Anyway, moving down, we have a pen, which I guess we now come to expect from Samsung tablets
2:13
at least the S line up, so that's good. And here we get a charging cable, type C to type C, and paperwork
2:21
So let's just throw that to the side. Okay. Now turning on the device, first different
2:27
between the S9 plus that got released half a year ago is the fact that that
2:33
that device came with an under display fingerprint sensor. This one has it mounted as a
2:38
power button on a side. So we lose the under display sensor and it's subbed for
2:44
something a little bit cheaper. And that's obviously the beginning of the cost
2:50
cuttings that the amount of cost cutting that I have done doesn't add up to the
2:55
price that you get to pay. I'm gonna close the door and continue
3:03
Okay, so let's now touch upon the display right here. As this is Samsung, so you'd expect the best display, or roughly something that competes with
3:11
basically any other device on the market at this price range, and you would be wrong
3:17
Because what we get is an LCD IPS running at 90 Hertz, which is a price tag equivalent of
3:22
a device costing about $300. dollars. Great. L number one for Samsung. Here, hold this Samsung. That's for you
3:33
So, continue on the display. We do at least have a decent resolution at 1600 pixels by 2560
3:44
And that's good. Now, I will argue one thing right here when making this tablet. Just consider the fact giving you 1080
3:55
resolution It might be a little bit crappy Honestly at this at this size yeah I would argue it might be a little bit too low But for instance for the non version of this device it a completely valid argument Here I would still argue it could be a valid argument Considering your monitor at work is most likely a 1080p monitor and that thing has about 23 interest
4:17
This is 12 and a half. Half of it, basically. So it could still utilize a 1080p resolution without much of a hassle
4:24
But instead of giving you an LCD IPS display, it comes with an Amo-Lead
4:29
It is Samsung. They can pop-in Amulet here at a relatively small cost as they are the sole manufacturer
4:36
or not sole, but they are the main manufacturers of such a display type
4:42
So it shouldn't cost them that much. But the viewing experience of the display would have been significantly better
4:49
Would have been at that point worth the money, I would say
4:53
even though everything else falls apart. Or, better off, also giving you 120 hertz of
5:00
instead of the crappy 90. But instead no, you've got a higher resolution that kind of becomes redundant for this kind of size of display
5:10
And then you sacrifice even more in display by having a crappy type and slow refresh rate
5:17
So, great. Okay, now moving on to the cameras, because we do have a couple of them
5:25
at the front we have a 12 megapixel ultra wide camera. And then at the back we have a dual camera setup
5:33
And why you need a dual camera setup on a bigger tablet is beyond me. It's not like you're going to go outside and capture photos with this
5:38
just walking like this and taking photos. So that still goes over my head
5:44
But the two cameras right here are two times 8 megapixel wide and ultra-wide lenses
5:50
which can record at 4K 30 frames or 1080p 30 frames. So that's about it
5:57
And then moving on. into the internals which is where most of the
6:04
else start to happen we have Exenos 1380 for 7-Efing
6:15
100 euros you get a processor that doesn't compare to a Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet which comes
6:25
with a Snapdragon 870 which is already a data processor coming out four hundred dollars which is about like what
6:36
370 euros so at half the price you get a more powerful processor in a
6:45
Chinese Xiaomi tablet compared to this here you go Samsung that's another one
6:52
for you so that's LL number two Now in terms of storage, we get 128 gigabytes of storage with 8 gigabytes of RAM at the entry level
7:08
and then the second option you can get is 256 with 12 gigs of RAM
7:13
Now this is good, so that's pretty decent. And additionally, something that Samsung did, which you might not be expecting, is
7:23
grab this little thing and find where the tray is. there we go
7:29
found it so what you can do is expend the storage using
7:37
an SD card so you can go for the lower end model which is the
7:43
128 with 8 gigs of RAM pop in like a terabyte SD card in here and you get to go
7:48
you have massive amounts of storage at that point so that's pretty nice
7:52
and in terms of RAM I think 8kabytes of RAM is serviceable for a device like this, especially the X-NOS 1380, which is not necessarily the fastest processor out on the market
8:07
So in terms of multitasking I pretty sure 8 gigabytes of RAM should be sufficient enough If you are really scared that your insane multitasking skill on a tablet with like multiple windows open at the same time
8:20
might affect your performance, you might go for the 12 gigs of RAM
8:25
I believe it might be an overkill, but then that being said, this device allows you to use Dex
8:31
a default without, I think, a display and with a display as well, which if you don't know what Dex is
8:37
it's basically a desktop experience on your tablet, which would allow you to have multiple windows open at the same time
8:44
and quickly switch between them, minimize them, maximize them, all that stuff. Basically, that your windows would work
8:49
So in that case, you might need a little bit more RAM, and that will maybe be a bit more justified to go for the 12 gigs of RAM
8:57
but in general, I believe it should be sufficient enough for 99% of the people, I would assume
9:04
okay now moving on we do have a hefty battery size right here at 10,090
9:14
milli amps with 45 watts wired charging quick delivery 2.0 without a charger for
9:22
again 700 euros so that's the battery size it's good the lack of charger not so good
9:34
Now, I'm thinking what else to say about this device, because honestly, the best way I can describe this device, it's underwhelming for the price
9:45
And I'm going to give you a bit of a comparison, but before I do so, I want to give a question to everyone interested
9:54
Why are you looking at this device? Is it the pen that entices you
9:59
If it is, then that's great. It's Android with a pen. Don't have any problem with that kind of argument
10:04
you maybe are a creative type of person that want to draw on your tablet
10:08
Completely fine. Great. If you don't need a pen, why are you looking at this device
10:14
There are better alternatives for less money that will be faster than this
10:20
and provide you better value for your money than what Samsung always does
10:24
Samsung never provides you good value for your money. And that is just a fact
10:30
You get middle finger from them at every device that they release
10:34
and you don't need to look far. What I need to look for is, for instance, this
10:38
This is the biggest middle finger that can possibly find. You get to beta-tester foldable devices for $1,800 that don't come with a charger
10:47
And come with the same specs that the flips do at $800 less
10:53
You don't have two times more device right here. You just have a bigger device
10:57
So I just kind of wanted to put that out there just so people know where I'm coming from
11:02
and my kind of logic towards this. Now, that being said, if you are interested in checking out some other device
11:10
that might be a bit better for you, if you are a power user and maybe you want to
11:15
just have a faster device, so opening up applications and doing all kinds of multitasking device
11:21
is a little bit smoother, and maybe you want to play games
11:25
a little bit better than this device can. Then let me present you with an alternative
11:30
being the Xiaomi Pad 6. Now, I will be honest, I primarily look at Xiaomi devices as a comparison, just because over the time I found them to be the best value for the money
11:44
Now, that's also one of the reasons I can just go and type and show me whatever and find it easily
11:52
If I would be looking at other devices, maybe RealMe, I don't remember RealMe, for instance, having a decent tablet that would compete with this, a decent price
12:01
but I know that Xiaomi usually does. And for instance, the pad 6 is one of those devices
12:08
It will be on a smaller size, I mean at 11 inches, but it will be better
12:14
Also has an LCD IPS display but has better display type faster refresh rate HGR 10 support Dolby Vision 550 15 also Android 13
12:30
In terms of storage, it goes to 256, 8 gigabytes of RAM, so a little bit less
12:35
but the processor in here will be the more important aspect, which is the Snobragon 875G processor, meaning it's going to be faster than this
12:46
And all that comes at about 400 euros at its release, which was in April 18th of 20203
12:53
So also a little bit further back. So not only did it cost less, it was faster, it also came earlier than this device
13:02
So I want to kind of hammer this down. This device is a newer device that is shittier than what other manufacturers offered at a lower price
13:16
And this didn't need to be this bad. I mean, that's kind of a bad statement
13:23
The tablet isn't inherently bad. But when you compare to other options that you can get
13:28
it is compared to other products. And the problem with Samsung is they don't have much competition
13:35
so they think that they can just reign supreme over any kind of market with tablets, phones, or whatever else
13:42
without much competition. But there is competition in terms of phones and tablets
13:46
from Xiaomi. And we're talking about just the default one in terms of foldable, again, not much of a competition
13:52
That's why Samsung can get away by selling shit like this for $1,800 to people for three generations
13:59
not changing almost anything. And this is basically one of those other devices that doesn't really change much
14:06
It's supposed to be the cheaper version of the S9 tablets, yet it's not significantly cheaper
14:11
to justify that and it is cheaper in terms of what you get
14:15
get a crappier device compared to the S9, a little bit lower price tag compared to the
14:21
S9, but for that price you can get a better device from other manufacturers begging the
14:27
question, what would you go for this? So yeah. Now I want to point out one thing with my comparison to the Pad 6 from Xiaomi, that tablet
14:42
if I remember correctly, does not come with a pen. I don't know if it even supports a pen
14:47
So if you're looking for a device that has a pen support, so you can, for instance, draw
14:54
I urge you to check it out if you're interested in the Pad 6
14:59
If it comes, then obviously, or if it supports it or comes with it
15:04
then that will basically disqualify. I would say this device right of the bad
15:09
because it cannot compete with a better device at a higher price time. obviously if it does not
15:15
which I believe it might not then the Samsung devices actually have a little bit of an edge
15:22
for everyone who is interested in just having some kind of creative
15:26
aspirations with this device drawing or maybe some kind of design on it
15:30
then obviously the pen will be a no-brainer for you and you probably don't even need to think twice about it
15:36
because with a pen this is relatively decently priced device compared to
15:43
something like a Apple iPads which not only do support a pen
15:49
but they don't come with it and cost more so there we go
15:52
that's basically where I'm going to close it off giving you this kind of
15:56
idea to look or not idea but maybe what's the word that I'm looking for
16:01
just a insight into what you might be looking for and depending on if you need the pen
16:07
you probably will want to go with this if you don't I highly recommend checking out some other devices. So if you found this very helpful
