If I'm a Google Pixel 4 and today I'll show you how to restore your device
0:12
So I'll actually demonstrate both of the steps on a single device, so I'll create a backup and also restore it on here
0:20
But this process works on different devices so you could theoretically use your old device to create a backup and then use this device to restore it on the new. one
0:32
So let's start by going into the settings to create a backup
0:38
So the settings, number one, make sure that you actually have a Google account, otherwise
0:42
this won't actually work. So as you will see, I am logged in right here, as the account that I will be using, and then
0:50
go into the settings, tap on more, and you will see the option backup
0:56
Make sure that you enable this, so it's enabled, and then you'll see the Backup Now button, so you can create a backup right away. Otherwise, your device will just
1:05
create a backup once so often, whatever it's set to create it, like, once a week or so
1:13
So just up on Backup Now, it will start backing up. Now, there's not much data on here, so
1:18
it will go relatively quick. There's only, like, one app, I think. But if you have, like
1:24
device full of music, photos and applications, it will take significantly longer time than it is
1:32
taking for me at the moment. So let's just wait for it to back up which you can see the progress bar right here
1:38
the blue line that is not really moving at the moment. But yeah, let's wait for it to finish
1:54
I As you can see I will get the message your data is backed up so now it finished
2:16
So I'm going to quickly perform a reset of the device. now don't worry this actually takes shorter time than actually bucking it up for some reason
2:26
so I'm going to shut it off and reset it so I can restore the device from the backup that I have just created
3:03
Let's reboot. So keep in mind that the backup will need to be done on the same account
3:16
So for instance, if I created a backup on the hardware, reset account as you've seen before
3:23
It will also be accessible on the hard reset and no other account
3:26
So once it actually finishes, we will have to log into the account to actually see the backup
3:35
So let's begin. I'm just going to change it to English. And that is basically how the device looks after booting it up for the first time or resetting it
3:47
And the device is fully clear. There no data on it just a stock Android right now without any kind of apps installed in anything So number one connect to network like I just did
4:19
You'll see the copy apps and data. You want to select next
4:23
So we actually have the option. And by default it resorts to moving the data over the cable
4:29
but not everybody has a cable and a transfer one so you can go from C or from type A to type C
4:37
So we're just going to press right here. I can't use old phone. Okay
4:49
and let's log into the account. Up on next. I'm going to now log in
5:09
login I just add the previous account okay
5:27
and here you have the list of all the backups accessible now disregard most of them
5:35
they're not really important because we're only focus on the one that has been created on a pixel all the ad ones are from well different devices
5:44
which you can also use they were created randomly not actually by me but by the phone itself as an automatic backup So you can see there is a few more And if you actually go to website you would see even more
5:59
But those are the most recent ones. So I'm going to choose the pixel one, the one that has been created four minutes ago
6:07
So let's stop on it. Here it gives you a couple options
6:11
So you can see that there's one app that will restore, which can also tap on it
6:15
and it will show you what the name of the app is. Now, if you created it on a device that had way more apps than I did
6:23
then you'll have all of them here as well, and you can select which one you want to keep and backup back to your device
6:30
or if you don't want them, you can uncheck them. Then you'll also have contacts and device settings and additional options
6:37
So I'm going to keep everything as it is, so it backs up everything back to the device
6:42
that includes wallpaper, all the settings that have been changed. basically will be the same
6:46
looking the same as before the reset. So let's just stop on Restore
6:57
More and more and accept. Now here we have a screen like
7:03
we're basically progressing with the setup of the device which can skip this. It doesn't really matter now
7:10
We've got a reminder. I'm going to deselect this for a quicker way of setup
7:19
Next, next, next. And all set. And you can see that the wallpaper font and everything is back and also the app itself
7:29
has been backed up. So as you can see, that's basically how you would back up your device and also restore it
7:38
