I'm filming this Lenovo Tab 4 and today I'll show you how to go through the setup process
0:11
of this tablet. So anyway, when you boot it up for the first time, you'll be presented with the welcoming
0:16
screen so simply choose your language right here and then go to the next page
0:22
This will welcome you to your Lenovo TB8504F. Now in here you can set up if you want to copy data from your old device or set it up
0:34
as new which is what I'm going to be choosing right here. And then this takes us to the next page that allows us to connect to some kind of Wi-Fi
0:41
Now you can obviously skip this if you don't want to. By doing so you will lose the ability to log into your Google account throughout the setup
0:49
process but that can be changed later on after the setup is complete anyway
0:53
And additionally, date and time will most likely not be set correctly because it won't
0:58
be getting the data from the net, it will just kind of give you a page allowing you
1:03
to fix it up if it's not right. So I'm going to select it right here so don't use any network to set up
1:10
Then we have Google services, we have things like location, scanning, sending user and diagnostic data
1:16
Obviously going really briefly into those three different options, the location is just
1:21
GPS tracking, location or improved location accuracy which is scanning allows the device
1:27
to look for signals like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. And then below that we have send system data
1:34
Now nowadays it's called sending user and diagnostic data which in both cases it just
1:40
doesn't sound good because you're sending your own data to Google. It's just kind of spyware kind of thing and kind of creepy to share your data with Google
1:51
So I'm going to disable this and go to the next page
1:57
Now this page is kind of useless, it just allows us to add a name to our device
2:02
If you choose to leave it empty it's just going to name itself. So in this case it was like the Lenovo TB850 something, whatever it was
2:12
Either that or it will just take a name like Lenovo Tab 4
2:17
Obviously if you choose to put something in here it's going to use that instead
2:21
Now the places that it uses these names is in things like hotspot and Bluetooth devices
2:28
Those will be the two places where you can see the name of your device and depending
2:32
on what you put here that's what's going to be visible. Next page we have protect your tablet, allows us to set up some kind of screen like pin
2:40
pattern, password or nothing. Obviously if you want to protect it set something up, choose whichever one you want
2:46
If you don't care select not now to skip it. We have Lenovo ID so create a Lenovo ID to retrieve a personalized experience and service
2:59
That is the most vague info to why I would want to create a Lenovo ID that I have ever seen
3:06
It doesn't really compel me to do so so I'm just going to skip this
3:10
License agreement, now obviously no phone can go without agreeing to some kind of terms
3:14
of use so obviously you need to read those, well you don't need to but you are required
3:19
to agree to them so it might be handy sometimes to know what you're agreeing to
3:26
You have user experience programs, now just as before user experience programs is just
3:31
like the Google data gathering trash but this is from Lenovo so no thanks
3:38
Nothing else, view additional apps and add an email address or account
3:45
Now obviously if you want to add your account it will go back to Wi-Fi connection because
3:48
you need network for this so I'm going to select all set
3:54
Multi-user allows me to set up additional users if I want to but no thanks I'm just
3:58
going to finish it up and get presented with the home screen finishing up the setup
4:04
