Welcome
0:02
In front of me is a brand new released Aces Zenphone 8 and today I will go over
0:11
unboxing along an overview of this phone. So let's pop it straight open
0:16
There we go
0:26
go now the packaging seems rather nice at least the color is refreshing not the typical
0:44
black or completely white boxes so let's pop it in here and we got we've got a case
0:51
it's a hard case so hard plastic one Let's puff it out
1:16
I guess I just couldn't make a normal package where the sticky foil just gets normally
1:26
Open, but oh well So there we go there's a plastic case and then we get some paperwork so we don't really care about that
1:34
We get the phone itself in here See what we else we got here
1:44
So apart from that we get the charger type C to type C So you can see it right here and the
1:52
charging brick Now we go. So I'll just sit at this side
2:01
Nothing else in here. I'm going to pop it in and throw it to this side
2:05
So let's start off with a brick. This is a 30-watt charger, so relatively nice
2:12
And let's pop the phone out. Now we go
2:23
Let's turn it on. So while it's going to be turning on, I'm going to quickly go over the specifications of this phone
2:33
So it has a below 6 inch display, 5.9 to be precise
2:38
1080p by 2400 display. Super Amolet. So you're going to get really nice black colors, this pixels of black
2:49
It also comes with 120 hertz refresh rate. HDR 10 plus certification
2:58
1,100 and net's peak brightness. Let me just quickly finish up the setup
3:06
Not very good at multitasking. 1,100 peak brightness, 82.9% screen-to-body ratio
3:18
So actually looks... It looks a little bit better. than 82% or 83% I would say not sure why I think the size of the phone has a little bit to do with it it's super small so the percentages seem a little bit low even though it is fairly good also in terms of pixel density it has 446 pixels per inch that is solid as the fact with this is being a below 6th into display with the typical 1080p resolution okay now that it's
3:53
set up, let me max it out, it looks like it comes with dark mode enabled by default, unless
3:59
I picked it by, somehow. Anyway, so there it is. Let me make your wallpaper a little bit brighter, just so you can see the actual screen
4:10
This looks nice, apply, and there we go. So you can see, it looks really nice
4:20
I could also pop the case while I'm added. There we go
4:29
Now the case is basically the same thing as the back of the device
4:34
apart from just being plastic, that's the same logo in the same place
4:38
I don't really like it. It just makes it feel kind of cheap. But from that, it seems to be really nice
4:44
Now, one thing that I have to mention is super nice here
4:50
Personally I really like curved displays That kind of why I using still my outdated Mates20 Pro So when I seen this device I really like the fact that it super small
5:03
but the display itself kind of puts me out because it's not curved
5:08
But I have to say one thing. In terms of, for instance, if you're looking for a curved display
5:12
like I am primarily because of the gesture navigation, it just for me feels so much better with a curved screen
5:18
Here the screen basically ends. It's what Samsung for instance used to call their phones 3D glass or whatever
5:31
So it is a little bit rounded at the edge and it is rounded to the point that it basically melts with the frame itself, making it feel super nice
5:41
So yeah, just thought that I will point that out. Now moving to the camera department at the back, as you can
5:48
see it looks kind of underwhelming we have only two cameras but personally I do
5:53
prefer to see less cameras rather than more and trash cameras which has been the
5:58
trend recently for majority of the manufacturers so going over those the
6:04
main sensor is a 64 megapixel white sensor and then we get a 12 megapixel
6:09
ultra wide so honestly it seems fairly good now those cameras do pull twice
6:15
twice of what normal cameras do for my I'm going to remember the 64 or 12 was also doubles as macro lens and there was also some other gimmick that other lens does something else
6:27
So that being said, technically it has quad camera setup, which is, in my opinion, I'm just fine
6:33
At least the functionality is of a quad camera setup. And to be completely fair, I'd rather see those two cameras rather than them, for instance, add a 5 megapixel macro, 2 megapixel depth sensor
6:48
I genuinely despise this. It's such a trash way to market your device
6:53
just by adding literal trash to your device just so it seems better
6:58
So props to Aces for not doing that. Hands down, really nice thing to, well, not include
7:06
which is kind of hilarious thing to say that being happy that there is no additional cameras
7:11
But if they're useless, what's the point? So anyway, going back to the cameras
7:16
They shoot at 8K, 4K and obviously 1080p So at 8K you will be locked to 24 frames per second
7:26
So nothing really great But if you drop it down to 4K which
7:31
It's probably going to be more than enough for everyone You can shoot at 30, 60 and also 120
7:37
Now one thing that I want to see right of the bat is if that 120 is a
7:43
normal speed or slow motion because if it's 4k 120 of normal speed then that is just going to be a little bit outside of I would say the norm so we have video quality
7:59
4K oops 4k 60 so yeah no it's locked to 60 only which still is really good even though on this display you probably won't even see the difference considering it's only a 1080p this
8:15
but anyway if you have any kind of like decent TV 4k TV you can pop that footage
8:20
there and it should look just outstanding so going back to the camera
8:26
I'm gonna capture a couple photos just a typical trash photos that I usually do
8:30
nothing really special so number one I'm gonna see how the micro works if I can
8:39
even get it to work because I'm really interested in that so
8:45
I can't really find a macro in this case
8:57
H.T.R. H.DR. This is ultra wide. I guess I will use ultra wide as a macro. I think that's what they want me to do
9:11
move further to improve focus. There we go. So let's quickly look at how this came out
9:31
Honestly it looks fairly okay. A little bit lacking on the resolution
9:37
I can't really get really close into it. the brightness of the device isn't necessarily anything outstanding here as you can see
9:45
maybe let me just make the camera a little bit brighter not this way This way and I going to drop the brightness of the lights
9:56
So, compensate. Hopefully this will make the... Make it look a little bit better
10:04
There we go. So we should have a little bit more brightness now
10:14
Okay. So if you look closely, like right exactly here, where it is in focus, there is a lot of detail
10:24
but this is already zoomed in all the way, so it kind of falls off a little bit
10:28
But let's see if we can do anything better with the 64 megapixel white sensor
10:33
Just make sure that it is set to capture at full quality
10:41
Camera sound, don't care. camera resolution, there we go, 64. So obviously it was said to be a little bit lower, so... So..
10:54
Okay, so let's check this out
11:08
Again as before, it looks really good. Again, I didn't really capture it and focus
11:15
too well as you can see specifically here it's blurry but anyway it still does
11:20
really good job really detailed photo one thing that I also mention the boke is
11:26
also fairly nice so you can see the background being fairly nicely blurred
11:31
without anything like super super annoying looking artificial and stuff like that
11:38
so it does look really nice now let's see what else we got
11:45
Portrait. See how portrait does with needles. I'm not sure if you've seen this at one moment, but when you hold the shutter button
12:01
it does, I believe, allow you to record, or at least it's on my photo mode
12:09
It was recording at one point. I'm not exactly sure how, but it started recording
12:19
So anyway, let me just remove these couple that I captured right here
12:27
So there's the portrait. Now portrait starts looking a little bit wonky, a little bit too dark and, let's say
12:36
It looks weird compared to the previous photo, but still it is detailed
12:44
So, anyway, honestly, in terms of the camera department, I would want to see something a little bit better for a flagship device
12:52
considering this is supposedly a flagship phone. So those cameras seem a little bit more of a mid-range phone rather than a flagship
13:03
And honestly, this, I really like this, and the price is, I would say, really competitive
13:11
considering it costs it around, I believe, $600 or something like that, dollars
13:17
So for that price, it is one of the cheapest flagships, but also it lacks in certain departments
13:24
One would be obviously the camera. The camera leaves a lot to be desired, even though it captures primarily really good, just normal
13:33
photos, it has no additions to it. Like there's nothing extra. So, it, for, I don't know, I'm maybe a little bit spoiled with phones, considering there's
13:47
a lot of them coming through here. But yeah, those cameras just leave a lot to be desired and make it a little bit feel
13:54
like more of a mid-range phone, even though it is packing some decent specs in here
14:00
which probably, I guess that is probably what there were. going for to make a semi-mid-range I guess mid-range expensive device but pack as much
14:09
of tech in here as they could considering it comes with a snapdragon 888g
14:16
um 128 gigabytes storage at least with minimum 6 gigabytes RAM now the version that I have
14:25
right here comes actually with 256 and 8 gigabytes RAM so it's a little bit more decked
14:30
out but yeah for a phone this size this is outstanding honestly. And the only thing that could make this phone even better would be a better camera
14:39
But honestly I think now that I think about it I think Aces is just a little bit out there with the camera considering their gaming phones don have any good cameras And it looks like these end phones aren really blowing anything out of the water with their cameras as well
14:57
But anyway, let's finish up the overall specs right here. So like I said, it comes with a Snobdrague in 888, two different versions of storage, 110 to 8, and 256 with RAM, well, RAM
15:11
ranging from 6 gigabytes all the way to 16. So we have 6, 8 and 16
15:17
Now, both of the versions, so 128 has 6 or 8 gigs and 256 has 8 or 16
15:25
Personally, probably the 256, 8 gigabytes will be all everybody needs out there
15:31
but there might be people that are just willing to push the spec sheet to the max
15:36
and go with the 16. I want to quickly look at one additional thing
15:42
I want to see if it has expandable storage, so I kind of doubt it, but..
15:50
Oh yeah, I definitely doubt it. The size of this is a little bit too small for expendable storage
15:56
But just so everybody can see... Yep, there it is. So it's a dual SIM tray
16:03
No expendable storage here, which is a little bit of a shame, but..
16:07
still can't really complain that much. So apart from that it comes with the UFS 3.1 storage so recording those 8K videos will
16:17
be a little bit faster when it comes down to processing it
16:21
And then lastly it has a 4,000 Mali-ampr battery built into it with like I said before 30
16:27
watt charger included. Now the 4,000 seems a little bit small I would say considering there are phones that are packing
16:33
a little bit bigger batteries but personally When looking at this phone right here, the screen is way smaller than what majority of the phones need to power up
16:45
So probably the battery should be good enough in here. And they do advertise the charging speeds that it can get up to 60% in 25 minutes and up to 100% in 80 minutes
16:58
Now these are primarily a lab results, so I expect a little bit less, but still it should be fairly close to those numbers
17:06
So yeah, lastly, just kind of going over this, the phone itself, and my thoughts on it, the size of it is just amazing
17:17
I really like smaller devices, don't really like the entire trend of basically going big
17:22
so as you can see comparing to something like a Mate 20 Pro, which nowadays seems to be a fairly small device
17:31
This is basically the size of an iPhone mini, which I really really
17:36
like and it helps it that it comes with flagship specs of Snapdragon 888 you'll get
17:42
really good speeds out of that one outside of that it feels in hand nice but it
17:48
does have this kind of cheap-looking aesthetic to it like you cannot say that this
17:54
looks really good compared to some other flagships it just looks like a outdated
18:00
phone in a way from just a aesthetic extent point so we'd really like to see something
18:06
that looks a little bit better than this. But other than that, yeah, it does have basically everything that you would need
18:12
I believe it also has wireless charging. I mean, just quickly grab my charger
18:16
If I can just like pull it out there. So there we go. There's my charger
18:22
Am I wrong? It looks like I am wrong. So it seems to not have a wireless charging
18:31
Anyway, so yeah, I'm at finishing this off at about six, $600,700. This device is really nice. It packs just flagship-grade specs, but comes
18:44
at significantly lower price tag than what normal flagship nowadays come at. So it is a outstanding
18:51
device. I really like it. And the size of it, if you're looking for a small phone
18:57
there is not many options here, especially with this kind of hardware in it. The other option
19:03
would be probably the iPhone but it's kind of the pick on get to pick if you want
19:10
Apple or Android so if you prefer Android it this is probably the only way for you to go
19:15
and I can't say it's a bad way to go at this device that's good so anyway this
19:22
would conclude this overview of it and it seems to be the phone seems to be really
19:28
good so yeah that's all I can say if you found this video helpful don't forget to hit
